GERMANY CONCERNED WITH EARLY SETTLEMENT OF NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT CONFLICT

YEREVAN, August 13. /ARKA/. Germany is concerned with an early
settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the newly appointed
German Ambassadress to Armenia Andrea Joana-Maria Wiktorin stated at
a ceremonial presentation of copies of her credentials to RA Foreign
Minister Vardan Oskanian.
The Ambassadress pointed out that although Germany is not an OSCE MG
Co-Chair and is not actively involved in the settlement process, it
re-affirms its interest in an early settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict and establishment of stability in the region.
The press and information department, RA Foreign Office, reports that
at Ambassadress Wiktorin’s request the RA Foreign Minister outlined
the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
The sides also discussed the current level of Armenian-German relations
as well as further development programs.
Minister Oskanian briefed Ambassadress Wiltorin on the work carried
out in Armenia under the European Neighborhood Program of Action,
which work is to be submitted to the European Commission at the 1st
forum of the participating countries scheduled for September.
Minister Oskanian wished the German Ambassadress success in performing
her high mission in Armenia. In her turn, Ambassadress Wiktorin
assured the Minister that she will do her best to contribute to the
development of bilateral relations.
Andrea Joana-Maria Wiktorin was born in 1957. In 1992-1995, she
worked at the German Embassy in Latvia, and in 1997-2000 at the German
Embassy in the Netherlands.
In 2000-2003, Andrea Joana-Maria Wiktorin was Vice-Ambassador of
Germany to Belarus. Since 2003, she has been Vice-Chief of a Department
