YEREVAN, AUGUST 23, ARMENPRESS: Aram Manukian, a senior member of
the former ruling Armenian National Movement (ANM), called today for
creation of what he described as ‘a broad format of national accord",
which he said would allow to carry out public, political and social
orders.

Speaking to a news conference he said some of opposition groups were
holding consultations on creating such a format.

Aram Manukian complained of the lack of charismatic opposition leaders
who are able to bring together masses, saying that ex-president Levon
Ter-Petrosian is an exception.

According to him, rallying around Ter-Petrosian has become a challenge
for many opposition parties. He said several parties are going to
nominate the former president as their single candidate for next
year’s presidential ballot.
