‘HERITAGE’ OPPOSITIONAL PARTY SUBMITTED BILL ON RECOGNITION OF NAGORNO KARABAKH REPUBLIC BY ARMENIA TO PARLIAMENT

Today, Head of the ‘Heritage’ oppositional party Raffi Hovannisian
submitted a bill ‘On recognition of Nagorno Karabakh Republic’ by
Armenia to the Parliament. As the press-service of the ‘Heritage’
reports, the first legislative initiative of the faction after its
adoption will assure a long-expected de jure recognition of NKR by
Armenia. The bill notes that ‘The Republic of Armenia recognizes
Nagorno Karabakh Republic’, as well as that ‘this Law takes effect
from the date of its official publication’. A reference on absence of
the necessity of adopting other laws has been also submitted in view
of adoption of the Law on NKR recognition. The substantiation, drawn
up by the ‘Heritage’, emphasizes: ‘With adoption of this Law by the
Republic of Armenia, de facto status of Artsakh will be recognized
de jure based on the fact that NKR meets all the internationally
admitted standards of a sovereign state’.
