There are numerous similarities between the Turkish authorities’
ideology during the First World War, and the German authorities’
ideology during the Second World War.

The aforesaid topic was discussed at a conference, which was held
recently in Paris, and among historians who had arrived from Armenia,
Turkey, several other European countries, and the US, Le Monde
reported.

“We have responded to Turkish President, Mr. [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan’s
instructions, and set up a commission of historians to study the
Armenian Genocide,” French Armenian researcher and historian Raymond
Kévorkian noted with ridicule.

As per the historians, the same inhuman logic of social Darwinism–that
is, the creation of a human race that is “free from the Armenian and
Jewish bacteria”–was applied by both the Young Turks and the German
Nazis.

In addition, there is a lot in common between the executioners of the
Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in the early 1900s, and the
extermination of the Tutsis in Rwanda. Accordingly, large numbers of
people living in rural areas were exterminated in a short period of
time in both cases, the scholars also noted.

16:11, 03 Apr 2015
Siranush Ghazanchyan

An extended article on the Armenian Genocide was published in April
edition of prominent French “Le Figaro” magazine’s “Histoire” journal.

The article entitled “Armenia: Forgotten genocide” by French Armenian
historian Michael Nishanian thoroughly covers the chronology of the
Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, and 1894-1896 Hamidian
massacres and presents the Turkish nationalistic ideology behind
the genocide.

“Century-long denial” section of the article describes denial policy
pursued by the Turkish authorities which followed the Armenian Genocide
and continues into today. In this section the change in the dates
of Gallipoli battle 100th anniversary is presented as vivid example
of denialism. However, according to the author, attempts to shift
international community’s attentionhave not achieved any result –
as opposed to the Turkish authorities’ expectations.

Works about the Armenian Genocide published in France during recent
months and the schedule of the main events to be held in April were
also covered on the pages of the journal.

No Imposing Penalties On Judges Over ECHR Rulings Against Armenia –

NO IMPOSING PENALTIES ON JUDGES OVER ECHR RULINGS AGAINST ARMENIA – MINISTER

15:07 * 03.04.15

Armenia’s Minister of Justice Hovhannes Manukyan is concerned over
the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rulings against Armenia,
which make Armenia pay for local judges’ wrong verdicts.

However, he does not think the problem should be resolved by imposing
penalties on judges for committing judicial errors.

“But we cannot propose any mechanisms that are not applied in
civilized countries. However poor the judicial system is, it is of
high importance for the country,” Mr Manukyan told reporters on Friday.

The minister advises studying European judicial systems with an
experience of dozens of years.

“Nowhere can you see penalties imposed on judges because of an ECHR
ruling against the state,” Mr Manukyan said.

Armenia’s judicial system needs reforming to reduce judicial errors
to a minimum.

“Of course, even a perfect judicial system commits judicial errors.

But we have to enhance our judicial system’s efficiency and thus
reduce judicial errors to a minimum,” Mr Manukyan said.
