TBILISI, January 19. /TASS/. Georgia expects to complete talks on a new deal with Gazprom on the transit of Russian gas to Armenia within the coming two weeks, Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Minister George Kobulia told reporters on Saturday.

"At present, we are discussing the terms of reaching a new agreement on the transit of the Russian gas to Armenia. The terms of the previous contract [expired on December 31, 2018] will remain in force pending the end of those negotiations," he said. "After the talks with Gazprom, which are expected to be completed within the coming two weeks, we will make their results public,"

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said on January 18 that his country was not planning to give up its role of a transit nation for Russian gas supplies to Armenia.

Prior to January 2017, Georgia received 10% of the total volume of Armenia-bound Russian gas for its transit services. A new agreement with Gazprom, signed in early 2017, stipulated that the Russian side paid to Georgia for the transit with money and partially with gas in 2017, and only with money in 2018.

Rafael Jrbashyan: It’s surprising how those years have passed … I said, and became ashamed (video)

We present a part from the interview with Rafael Jrbashyan from the archive of “A1 +.”

“When they say future, it’s scary to me because one should have  highest responsibility towards the future. The highest responsibility is youth.

I’ve been sick with youth and already -it’s horrible to say-for fifty years. It’s surprising how those years have passed … I said, and became ashamed, because I am not that much.

I am delighted with today’s youth, with their ambition to life, to the beautiful life, to the joy, to the individual joy. But sometimes I do not see it harmonizing for the purpose.”

Republican party was, is and will be Armenia’s core political force: Sharmazanov sums up passing year

Aysor, Armenia
Dec 26 2018

The passing year was full of challenges for Armenia and Republican Party of Armenia, party’s spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov told Aysor.am, summing up the passing year.

“The 2018 was year of big changes, drastic changes. Change of power took place, not revolution, but change of power. But we have what we have. The executive power and its head managed to exercise pressure on the legislative power, occupy the National Assembly and conduct immediate elections again by pressures,” Sharmazanov said.

He stressed that anti-democratic elections took place on December 9 with the campaign having passed in the atmosphere of fear and intolerance. He stressed that as a result, Armenia will have a parliament deprived of opposition.

“No matter how much parties state that they are opposition, Tigran Avinyan is right saying that ‘we are 88, part of us may be opposition’,” Sharmazanov said.

He also referred to a number of concerns relating country’s foreign policy.

“Despite Pashinyan’s affirmations that everything is good, that Armenia will keep the post of the CSTO secretary general, I will say that Armenia has been deprived of the post. It is already a fact,” Republican party’s spokesperson said.

He stressed that nothing is smooth in Armenian-Russian relations either.

“There are many concerns in the economy sector too, the economy is collapsing,” he said, adding that thousands of citizens will lose their jobs after New Year.

“It appears that we will not have separate ministries of Diaspora and culture. It is really rather worrying policy,” he said.

Sharmazanov said the current authorities have failed to register success in any sector.

“Number of ministries is cut, number of unemployed grows, investments reduce, post of CSTO secretary general is lost, nothing is clear in Karabakh issue,” he said.

Eduard Sharmazanov said that for Republican party the biggest failure in 2018 was the loss of power.

“But we revived on December 9. It was proved by 60,000 votes we received at elections. December 9 showed that the Republican party was, is and will be one of the core political forces of Armenia and non-parliamentary opposition will consolidate over it,” Sharmazanov said.

He though added that in 2018 the party registered success too serving Armenia’s interests in all the international parliamentary platforms, presenting and defending Armenia’s interests in the PACE, EU, CSTO and CIS.

“We have defended Artsakh’s and Armenia’s interest and stated that there is no opposition and authority if the matter relates to the state interest. As a non-parliamentary force we must use our international ties for pro-Armenian settlement of Karabakh issue and international recognition of the Armenian Genocide,” he said.

“Politics is a fight and we are ready to fight in all legal ways for the sake of Armenia, Artsakh. I wish peace to all,” Sharmazanov concluded.

Alex and Ani Brings Up Pandora in Suit With Sterling

December 12, 2018 by ROB BATES

In a Dec. 7 filing in Ohio federal court, Alex and Ani asked Judge Sara Lioi to let it seek evidence to determine whether rival charm brand Pandora interfered with its relationship with Sterling Jewelers.

Pandora’s charms are currently sold at Jared, which is owned by Sterling. Jared briefly carried Alex and Ani, but the relationship ran aground, leading to the current lawsuit.

“Through the discovery conducted in this matter to date, Alex and Ani has substantiated various concerns related to Pandora’s interference with the contractual relationship between itself and Sterling, to the detriment of Alex and Ani,” reads the motion for reconsideration, submitted by Alex and Ani’s counsel Mark Geragos.

Alex and Ani’s filing claims that “Sterling admitted to four separate instances in which Pandora communicated to Sterling its dissatisfaction with respect to Alex and Ani and Sterling’s competing contractual relationship.”

The motion for reconsideration seeks a telephone conference to discuss modifying the existing scheduling order to permit additional discovery. On Nov. 20, Lioi denied Alex and Ani’s initial request for a telephone conference as untimely.

The motion also asks the court “to grant [Alex and Ani] leave to amend its pleadings and add claim(s) against Pandora as a third-party defendant.”

Asked for comment, a Pandora spokesperson said that it has “no involvement in this case” and that it has “not been contacted by any of the parties.”

Sterling, a division of Signet Jewelers, originally filed suit against Alex and Ani last year. The two had forged an ill-fated agreement in 2015 to sell Alex and Ani’s products in more than 100 Jared stores.

Sterling claimed in its suit that Alex and Ani’s refusal to allow “certain discounting strategies” left it stuck with millions in inventory. In its counterclaim filed in February, Alex and Ani charged that Sterling deliberately breached the two parties’ contract,

According to a status report filed Dec. 7, the two sides engaged in settlement discussions in November but did not come to a resolution.

Sterling declined comment, citing pending litigation. Alex and Ani’s attorney Geragos did not return a request for comment.
