Eldar Ibrahimov According to MP Eldar Ibrahimov, the United States
is planning to use Armenia for offensive against Iran.

"The United States intends to dislocate its military bases in Armenia",
Public TV channel reports that the due statement was made by chairman
of the committee on agrarian policy of Milli Medjlis Eldar Ibrahimov at
a meeting with representatives of the Iranian parliament on April 27.

"Iran is actively cooperating with Armenia that occupied the fifth part
of the Azerbaijani territory. If not for the comprehensive support
of Tehran, Armenia would have withdrawn from the Azerbaijani lands
long before", he said.

According to the parliamentarian, Azerbaijan does not interfere with
the internal affairs of Iran.

"Nevertheless, some time ago when the United States stated the
intention to use Azerbaijan as a platform for offensive against Iran,
our president said he will not let this. A similar position has been
demonstrated by the Turkish leadership from which the Americans have
been planning to strike Iran. At that time the United States decided
to open their military bases in Armenia, for which they have started
to support the opening of the Turkish-Armenian border. However, the
leaders of fraternal Turkey have kept their promise to official Baku",
Ibrahimov said

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, during the "Real Politic"
program on Public TV, responded to the question whether the Turkish
statements were connected with Armenia’s not having enough diplomatic
experience. He said, "People, who were afraid of the legends about the
Turkish centuries’ diplomacy and ingeniousness now at last understood
that the king is naked."

"Sometimes, using the experience, we need to keep silence. Especially
when your interlocutor who tries to put you in a bad situation, says
something that turns his own statements against him. In these cases
it’s better to keep silence and to allow your interlocutor to express
himself till the end. In Turkey too there are also some politicians
who understand. Recently the President of Turkey, Gul said that it is
better to lead silence diplomacy. I suppose it is directed to those
who like making statements," the foreign minister mentioned.

Grandson of Armenian Genocide Leader Calls for Turks to Mourn

Ninety-five years ago today, on April 24, 1915, the Armenian Genocide
began. Today, to commemorate the event, marchers worldwide will be,
and have been, out in force in an attempt to bring an end to Turkey’s
genocide denials, as well as to memorialize the tragedy.

Events are taking place worldwide. In Armenia, events began as early
as Friday night. Tens of thousands of people in Yerevan took part in a
torch-lit procession led by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation to
commemorate the 95th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The
marchers carried signs with statements such as `We demand compensation
from Turkey!’ and `The recognition time is now!’

The statement about "recognition" relates to the fact that Turkey has
continued to deny the word genocide is an accurate description of the
events. in Armenia, demonstrators burned a banner with images of
Turkish leaders.

Despite official denials, some Turks call for joining in the memorials
for the tragedy. Hasan Cemal, a famous Turkish journalist and a
columnist of the local Turkish daily Milliyet, has called for Turks to
join Armenians in commemorating the day. Hasan Cemal is the grandson
of Cemal Pasha, who was one of the organizers of the Armenian Genocide
in 1915.

In an article called "I share Armenian’s Pain on April 24" Cemal wrote
the following:

"Today is April 24. April 24, 1915 is one of the shameful pages of the
Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Armenians living and creating for
centuries in Anatolia endured great anguish on the lands they lived;
they stood great pains in their own state: they were eradicated,
slaughtered and subjected to eventual extinction. Some call these
pages of history as deportation, some – as tragedy, some – Genocide,
while others call it Great Calamity. But it cannot be denied.

"But today is April 24, the commemoration day of the Armenians, the
tragedy the Armenian nation suffered on these lands. Thus let’s first
share the Armenian’s grief on April 24, let’s try to feel their pain
in our hearts, let’s equally mourn with Armenians."

In fact, there is support among Turks. Human rights activists and
artists in Istanbul, Turkey commemorated the Armerian Genocide for the
first time on Saturday.

The Armerian Genocide, also known as the Armenian Holocaust, the
Armenian Massacres and, by Armenians, as the Great Crime, is generally
noted as beginning on April 24, 1915. It ran though 1917, and is
estimated to have resulted in the deaths of between one and one and a
half million Armenians by Ottoman Turks.

Obama cites `devastating chapter’ in Armenia past

President Barack Obama calls it "one of the worst atrocities" of the
20th century _ the mass killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks around
the time of World War I.

Saturday marks the 95th anniversary of the start of the slaughter in
1915, and Obama is taking time to remember "this solemn day."

A White House statement issued while Obama spends the weekend in
Asheville, N.C., calls the killings "a devastating chapter" in
Armenian history.

Obama says it’s important to keep alive the memory of what happened
"so that we do not repeat the grave mistakes of the past."

Historians estimate that up to 1.5 million Armenians were killed.
Turkey denies that the deaths constituted genocide, and says the toll
has been inflated and that those killed were victims of civil war and
unrest.

EAFJD: INTERNATIONAL PROCESS OF RECOGNITION TO CONTINUE UNTIL TURKEY RECOGNIZES THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Armenian genocide,
the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy joins all
the democratic forces and the European Armenian communities to pay
homage to the 1,500,000 victims of the 20th Century first genocide
perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkish government.

"Although it has been attested by a huge majority of historians and
recognized by tens of Parliaments and international institutions
in the world, this genocide still remains unpunished and denied by
successive Turkish governments," EAFJD said in a statement.

The European Armenian Federation states that, whatever the political
and economic threats Turkey makes on the countries which recognize
this genocide, the international process of recognition will continue
until the recognition by the Turkish State itself.

"Aware of the moral and material prejudices generated by the genocide,
the European Armenian Federation affirms that as for any Crime against
Humanity, the process of reconciliation between the Armenian people
and Turkey will have to pass by the re-establishment of the truth,
the recognition and the morals and material reparation," the statement
reads.
