/PanARMENIAN.Net/ On the initiative of Tsirani NGO and Patriots’
Club, Karen Balayan, captain of Cilicia, met with young Armenians to
discuss the fate of the vessel.

"We can lose Cilicia forever if no action is taken during next several
years. We call on those who care about the fate of our cultural and
historical heritage to exert efforts to save the vessel," captain
Balayan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

Cilicia has been standing in the open air for three years already,
awaiting a decision on establishment of marine museum.

A medieval merchant vessel designed by Hayas naval research group,
Cilicia sailed across Europe, visiting 25 countries. It took 11 years
to build the vessel which later became the symbol of Armenian people’s
unity. After two years of sailing, a large number of people in many
countries learned the history of Armenian seafaring, rewarding the
contemporary feats of Armenian sailors.

A valley teenager brought life back to a Fresno cemetery and earned
his Eagle Scout status.

15-year-old Caz Ashjian has finished his remodel of the Yazijian
Memorial Building at Ararat Armenian Cemetery.

Ashjian and a group of volunteers renovated the 100 year old building
in 30 days, so an on-site manager could help families make funeral
arrangements.

Ashjian earned his Eagle Scout status, and hopes guests will come to
appreciate the hard work.

"I hope they see it makes the cemetery a lot better. It’s a better way
to run the business, and the grass is starting to look greener, and
it’s just helping them all in all," Ashjian said.

The Ararat Cemetery is one of only two Armenian cemeteries in the
world.

ARMENIA TO GIVE "PROPER RESPONSE" IF WAR THREATS BECOME REALITY – LEADER

Armenia

Yerevan, 30 July: Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated in Yerevan
today that if the authors of military menaces addressed to Armenia
decide to realize them, they will receive a proper response.

Mediamax reports that Serzh Sargsyan said this, speaking at the parade
of graduates of military educational establishments today, devoted
to the 15th anniversary of establishment of the Ministry of Defence’s
Military Institute [named] after [late Prime Minister] Vazgen Sargsyan.

The president stated that "the Armenian Army will continue its holy
mission with pride, remaining the reliable defender of our state’s
and the people’s security, an irreplaceable and basic component of
regional security and stability".

"Today we are strong, stronger than ever, our Army is solid, modern
and capable of fulfilling any task. It has passed with honour the
exam of not only war, but peace as well, symbolizing the victorious
spirit of all Armenians," Serzh Sargsyan stated.

necessary, the same will happen today as well. From today on, each
of you is the sword of justice and retribution and the unbreakable
shield of Armenia and Artsakh [breakaway Azeri region of Nagornyy
Karabakh], facing which, any claims of the enemy will be smashed",
Serzh Sargsyan stated, addressing the graduates.

Aram Sargsyan: The Meetings Of Presidents May Continue For 10 Years

ARAM SARGSYAN: THE MEETINGS OF PRESIDENTS MAY CONTINUE FOR 10 YEARS, MARKING NO BREAKTHROUGH

AZG Armenian Daily
22/07/2009

The Karabakh conflict will be settled only when the two societies are
ready to live side by side without war, in a friendly atmosphere,
President of the Democratic Party of Armenia Aram Sargsyan told
a press conference today. He is assured that the meetings of the
Presidents of the two countries can continue for 10 years, marking
no serious breakthrough.

"The core issue of the negotiations is the status of Nagorno
Karabakh. If the issue of status is not solved, no other question
can be settled. No one doubts about the participation of NKR in
the negotiations, and this is going to be the main topic of the
negotiations. It should participate in all stages of the talks,"
Aram Sargsyan said.

As for the requirement to return the liberated territories, the
leader of the Democratic Party considers it is unserious. "I think
that Azerbaijan should be more troubled about the territories than
Armenia. We are simply trying to justify ourselves because of the
incorrect policy of our authorities," he said.

According to Aram Sargsyan, Ilham Aliyev made a great mistake in
Moscow. "The leaders of South Ossetia and Abkhazia were sitting at
the same table with the CIS Presidents. In fact, Azerbaijan directly
recognized the independence of those countries," Aram Sargsyan
stated. According to him, Ilham Aliyev will have great problems with
the Georgian President and the people of his country. "Whatever,
this was a memorable moment in the Moscow meeting," he said.
