Authorities ready to fully hand Artsakh over to enemy: Vanetsyan calls on everyone to come to Freedom Square

Armenia –

The Armenian authorities have decided to hand Nagorno Karabakh over to Azerbaijan and now it's time to prevent this scenario, former head of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan said.

His remarks came while addressing citizens on social media, starting a rally on Freedom Square in Yerevan to fight for Karabakh.

"The authorities of the country have already put up with the idea that Artsakh will be a part of Azerbaijan. We have come to a situation where the security of Armenia itself is threatened," Vanetsyan said.

According to him, the most precious thing of the Armenian warriors' lives is put under doubt and the result of the years-long fight is rendered senseless. Vanetsyan came to Freedom Square precisely to stop this process. He assured that he would not go anywhere, urging everyone to join him, and together they discussed further plans and steps.

Noubar Afeyan talks push to transform Armenia into tech-creating nation

PanArmenian
Armenia – April 2 2022

PanARMENIAN.Net - As April marks Armenian History Month in LA County, FOX 11 is highlighting an organization and a man who is making a difference in people's lives.

The publication spoke with Dr. Noubar Afeyan, who is the co-founder and chairman of Moderna and founder-CEO of Flagship Pioneering.

He is also the co-founder of FAST (Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology). Dr. Afeyan traveled to Los Angeles to serve as the keynote speaker for the Advance Armenia Gala, FAST’s inaugural fundraising gala.

FAST is working to transform Armenia from a largely technology-consuming nation to a technology-creating nation. Dr. Afeyan is deeply involved in many philanthropic efforts — many of which involve Armenia. Over the years, he has received many awards for his entrepreneurial and philanthropic contributions, including helping with the formation of 76 healthcare and life sciences companies.

All of these companies have been at the interface between biology, technology science and chemistry. One of the companies, of course, is Moderna, which is now famous for having created the COVID-19 vaccine.

Dr. Afeyan was born in Beirut, Lebanon to Armenian parents. He lived there until the civil war in 1975. As a teenager, he and his family escaped to Montreal, Canada as political refugees.

He attended McGill University, majored in chemical engineering and went on to graduate from MIT. And at 24, he started his own company.

Russia and Azerbaijan trade barbs over Nagorno-Karabakh

March 27 (Reuters) – Russia and Azerbaijan on Sunday traded barbs over the movement of Azeri forces in Nagorno-Karabakh where a simmering dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan flared into a six-week war in 2020.

Azeri troops in 2020 drove ethnic Armenian forces out of swathes of territory they had controlled since the 1990s in and around Nagorno-Karabakh before Russia brokered a ceasefire.

Russia said on Saturday it was deeply concerned about a rise in tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh and called for calm after what it said were breaches of the 2020 ceasefire brokered by President Vladimir Putin.

Russia said Azerbaijan had violated the agreement by allowing its forces to enter a zone policed by Russian peacekeepers near the village of Farrukh but that Azerbaijan had by Sunday withdrawn the soldiers.

Azerbaijan, though, denied the Russian statement.

"There has been no change in the positions of the Azeri army in the village of Farrukh, which is part of the sovereign territories of our country," the Azeri defence ministry said.

"The information about the withdrawal of units of the Azerbaijani Army from those positions does not reflect the truth. Our army is in full control of the operational situation," Azerbaijan's defence ministry said in a statement.

Azerbaijani Forces Breach Artsakh Border; Women and Children Evacuated

Azerbaijani armed forces violated the line of contact near the village of Parukh in Artsakh’s Askeran region, authorities said on Thursday.

According to the government, representatives of the Artsakh Defense Army and the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh are attempting to prevent, through negotiations, the further advance of the Azerbaijani troops and return them to their original positions.

As a safety precaution, women and children in the village of Khramort in Artsakh’s Askeran region have been evacuated.

“We call on the population to remain calm, the situation is stable in all other parts of the line of contact,” the Artsakh authorities said.

For already a month, Azerbaijani forces have been shelling the Khramort and other neighboring villages a mere 500 meters away from homes. They have been using loudspeakers to terrorize the farmers, ordering them to evacuate or else they will use force, Artakh’s foreign minister, David Babayan, told Armenpress.

He said that Azerbaijan is attempting to terrorize the population.

No response from Azerbaijan yet after OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship hands over Armenian proposals

YEREVAN, MARCH 23, ARMENPRESS. There is nothing unacceptable for Armenia in the 5-point proposal of Azerbaijan, and Armenia supplemented the entire agenda of the potential talks over a peace treaty with its proposals, the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan said in parliament when asked by MP Arusyak Julhakyan whether Armenia received a response from the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship over the request to organize negotiations.

“You also mentioned that Armenia responded to the five-point proposal by Azerbaijan and I am asking you to once again present the details of Armenia’s response, and I am also asking you to inform us whether or not we have a response from Azerbaijan around our response to their proposal,” MP Julhakyan asked the FM.

FM Mirzoyan said these questions require additional clarifications.

“After we said that we responded to Azerbaijan there were some comments, part of which were inaccurate comments because the assessments claimed as if Armenia rejected Azerbaijan’s proposals. Essentially there is nothing unacceptable for Armenia in Azerbaijan’s proposals, but it is another matter that these proposals weren’t entirely addressing the entire agenda of possible negotiations. And thus for a comprehensive peace we amended, supplemented the agenda and submitted it to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. I have been notified from OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing countries that these proposals have been handed over to official Baku. We don’t have a response from Baku so far,” Mirzoyan said.

The FM reminded that the Armenian proposals were in ARMENPRESS.
