ArmInfo. Aliyev’s absence from the Global Nuclear Summit scheduled
for April 12-13 in Washington is the White House’s first message
to Yerevan, says Aleksander Iskandaryan, Director of the Caucasus
Institute.

He told media no Friday that the US Administration does everything
possible to continue the Armenian- Turkish normalization, therefore
Washington will keep on pressing both the parties, especially Turkey.

"Nevertheless, the USA has no many levers of pressure on Ankara, so
it may ask Ankara for partial opening of the border with Armenia or
something like that." He said that the United States so far refrain
from stronger pressure on Armenia not to make Yerevan recall its
signatures put under the Zurich Protocols. "In fact, the USA strives
to demonstrate Armenia its clearance policy between the Karabakh
process and the Armenian-Turkish relations," Iskandaryan said.

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and President of Georgia Mikheil
Saakashvili will represent the South Caucasus at the Global Nuclear
Summit on April 12-13 in Washington. President of Azerbaijan Ilham
Aliyev has not been invited to the Summit. President of Armenia has
already agreed to meet with Erdogan.

ArmInfo. A personal exhibition of artist Hakhtanak Shahumyan set off
in Yerevan Mar 31.

Even though Shahumyan is widely known abroad and has had as many
as 32 personal exhibitions so far, this is just his 2nd exhibition
in Armenia. This time he has presented 115 works: painting, graphic
art, sculpture.

"To present one’s works to one’s own people is a highly responsible
thing. In the 1970s-1980s people living in Armenia were real
connoisseurs. They respected artists. Today, they respect rich men.

Nobody is interested in serious art any more. What people want is
entertainment," says Shahumyan. However, he believes that things will
improve. "Spiritual values are eternal. As regards artists, they have
their own mission: they must do what God grants to them. They must be
more active in communicating with people and must hold more serious
and interesting exhibitions – and the results will not take long,"
says Shahumyan.

cafe in North Hollywood have been identified as Harut Baburyan, 28,
Sarkis Karadjian, 26, Vardan Tofalyan, 31, and Hayk Yegnanyan, 25.

Two other people were wounded in the April 3 attack that occurred

NURTURE YOUR LIVES WITH THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS: THAT IS THE WAY TO THE
VICTORY OF LIFE OVER DEATH, SAID ARAM I IN HIS EASTER SUNDAY SERMON

On Easter Sunday, His Holiness Aram I celebrated the Holy Liturgy;
Archbishop Komitas Ohanian and Bishop Shahé Panossian served at the Altar.

In his sermon, His Holiness addressed the large number of faithful in the
church and in the courtyard; he said: "The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is
the victory of life over death, and God’s gift to save fallen humanity from
its present physical and moral condition. Humanity should not destroy this
gift, which it is doing by destroying our forests, poisoning our atmosphere,
polluting our waters. Humanity should nurture it through a God-centered
life. It is our task to use our talents and gifts to sustain God’s purpose
and plans for humanity and the Creation.

He then greeted the leadership and people of Lebanon and commanded them for
their effort to continue reaffirming their vocation in making Lebanon the
country of love and co-existence.

US Considers Withdrawing Its Last Tactical Nuclear Weapons From Euro

US CONSIDERS WITHDRAWING ITS LAST TACTICAL NUCLEAR WEAPONS FROM EUROPE

PanARMENIAN.Net
02.04.2010 17:37 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ President Obama will rewrite America’s policy on
nuclear weapons next week, heralding further reductions in the US
stockpile and giving a pledge not to develop new systems.

The Obama Administration has come under pressure from arms control
analysts to redefine the circumstances in which the US might consider
using nuclear weapons, and to state beyond doubt that the justification
for keeping them is purely as a deterrent.

Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association in
Washington, said that if Mr Obama redefined nuclear arms as purely
weapons of deterrence, it would "eliminate the number of potential
targets the US military think they need to hit". It would also reduce
the number of nuclear weapons the US believes it needs, he said,
which could bring the total well below the 1,550 strategic warheads
agreed under the new Start treaty announced last week.

In reviewing its nuclear arsenal, the US is considering withdrawing
from Europe its last tactical nuclear weapons – 200 B61 gravity
bombs – which are based in Belgium, Turkey, Italy, Germany and the
Netherlands; all members of Nato. Under a longstanding agreement,
the air forces of these countries would be expected to fly their own
bombers carrying the American B61 bombs in the event of a conflict
in which the US had approved the use of nuclear weapons.

A decision on this is not expected to be included in the revised
nuclear posture, as it is a matter for discussion within Nato,
which is developing an updated strategic concept. However, several
countries say they want the nuclear gravity bombs to be withdrawn
because there is no longer any justification for keeping them in
Europe, The Times reported.

Ayomi And Gillan Recording Songs For The Armenian School

AYOMI AND GILAN RECORDING SONGS FOR THE ARMENIAN SCHOOL

Armenia

The legendary rock-guitar player, god father of the heavy metal Tony
Iommi announced that he will record a few new songs with the vocalist
of Deep Purple Yan Gilan for getting some support for the music school
number 6 of Gyumri, Armenia.

As Mediamax reports Tony Iommi told that on t he exclusive interview
with Metal Hammer.

"Weeks ago we met with Gilan and recorded some tracks, in order to be
able to provide some support for the Armenian music school. With did
such kind of thing for Armenia several years ago and now we would
like to repeat it. We visited Armenia months ago and the Armenian
president gave us Medals of Honor. We were there with Yan, also Pet
Kash was with us. They showed us an old music school where it was very
cold and the pupils of the school had no musical instruments. We gave
them a few guitars, and some percussion instruments, we also would
like to rebuild the school for the children.

We are going to record some songs together and we hope that we will
manage to gather enough money for the reconstruction of the school.

Now our plans are in a discussion stage. We think about some live
performances, but we still need to certify our projects as I hope I
will restart my tours with the Heaven and Hell," Tony Iommi said.

Tony Iommi and Yan Gilan had visited Armenia in 2009 on October 1-2
in the frameworks of the project organized by the Mediamax titled
"Armenia Grateful 2 Rock".

Black Sabbath: Gillan & Iommi Team Up To Raise Funds For Armenia

BLACK SABBATH: GILLAN & IOMMI TEAM UP TO RAISE FUNDS FOR ARMENIA

Ultimate-Guitar.Com
April 2 2010

Former Black Sabbath bandmates Ian Gillan and Tony Iommi are teaming
up to record a new charity track for struggling Armenians.

The rock legends were recently honoured by Armenian Prime Minister
Tigran Sargsyan for their efforts to raise cash and awareness about
the nation’s problems and they decided it was time to record new
material together.

Iommi tells Metal Hammer magazine, "We raised some money 20 years
ago and we wanted to do it again, to be able to buy stuff.

"We went over (to Armenia) a few months ago because they gave us an
Order Of Honour from the President… They showed us what the money
had bought. They showed us this old music school; it was freezing and
the kids had no instruments, so we bought them some new instruments –
drums and guitars – and we want to build a new school for the kids.

"We’re going to do a few songs and, hopefully, we can raise the money
to afford to buy them a new school.

"We’ve talked about doing a couple of shows out there, but it’s about
working round what we are both doing."

Thanks for the report to Contactmusic.com.
