WAR IS NEVER DESIRABLE, BUT WE ARE NOT AFRAID OF FIGHTING: ARMENIAN PRESIDENT

"War is never desirable, and one must always be afraid of war. At
the same time, we are not afraid of fighting, if necessary," said RA
President Serzh Sargsyan in an interview with French daily Le Figaro
on Thursday.

Asked what can Armenia do to assist in resolving the Nagorno-Karabkh
conflict, the Armenian president said, "We are doing the best we can
on this issue. Azerbaijan attempts to create the impression that
Armenia and Karabakh are not interested in resolving this issue,
but that of course, is untrue.

"We must put an end to the blockade, from which we are suffering.

Azerbaijan is in another position: it relies on its natural resources
and its oil dollars to buy weapons and settle the issue by force. They
don’t hide their intentions," said Sargsyan.

YEREVAN, March 9. /ARKA/. Victor Krivopuskov, councilor of Russian
Embassy in Armenia, speaking last week in Novosti International Press
Center, voiced satisfaction at trade and economic cooperation between
Russia and Armenia.

"Today, Russia’s share Armenia’s foreign trade turnover is 22%,"
he said.

National Statistical Service of Armenia says Armenian-Russian trade
turnover reduced 14.9% over 2009 to $901.4million.

Russia’s share in Armenia’s foreign trade turnover was 22.5% in 2009 –
bigger than that of Armenia’s other partners.

Krivopuskov also pointed out Russia’s $500-million loan for Armenia
as evidence of trust.

On June 12, 2009, Russia transferred $500 million to Armenia as
bailout loan.

The money was lent at preferential LIBOR interest plus 3%.

The Presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of
Azerbaijan has held an extraordinary session.

News.Az reports with reference to the news service for the party that
the agenda included the issue of the recently adopted resolution on
the recognition of the so-called "Armenian genocide" in the Committee
on Foreign Affairs of the US House of Representatives.

Azerbaijani Communists have strongly condemned the adoption of the
resolution by the US congressmen and adopted the due statement. The
statement notes that the United States once again proved existence
of double standards.

The United States have never had permanent friends or strategic
partners; they are always pursuing their own interests, even
if their coverage is contrary to the canons of justice and
legality. The paper also noted that this action does great harm to
the US-Turkish-Azerbaijani relations and casts doubt on the just
position of the United States as one of the OSCE Minsk Group in the
settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh

Azerbaijani communists believe that the issue of the US co-chairmanship
and its withdrawal from the OSCE Minsk Group must be considered about
all that is happening now.

The opposition Adalyat party has made a statement condemning the
adoption of the resolution on the so-called "Armenian genocide"
in the US Committee.

News.Az reports with reference to the news service of the party that
the adoption of this resolution affects the US image.

"The main priority for the United States seems the preservation of
its interests rather than the protection of democratic values and
fair position.

The Adalyat party considers that this decision which was taken under
the influence of the political and financial support of the "Armenian
lobby" will influence the US democratic image and also cause the loss
of the influence of official Washington in the Turkic world.

The Adalyat party calls on Obama’s government to root out such concept
as the so-called "Armenian genocide" from its foreign policy and keep
it in the archive of the historical past.

The Adalyat party is presided by MP Ilyas Ismaylov. The Adalyat party
was founded in 1993. In 1996 it united with the Democratic Party of
Azerbaijan. In 2000 members of Adalyat separated from the Democratic
Party restoring their activity. Adalyat has been led by Ilyas Ismaylov

The New Phase For Sibel Edmonds And The ‘Boiling Frogs Post’

THE NEW PHASE FOR SIBEL EDMONDS AND THE ‘BOILING FROGS POST’
By Sibel Edmonds

March 8, 2010

In October 2009, I launched Boiling Frogs Post with one purpose in
mind: to establish a venue for investigative articles, analyses,
and interviews on issues largely blacked out by the media. After four
months of a successful trial phase this venue is now ready to enter
its next stage, and for that it needs your support.

>>From Edmonds’s Blog Those of you who know me or are familiar
with my case know my frequently delivered statements on pursuing all
channels for revealing the truth. I have fought for and lived by those
statements to date, and I intend to live by them for as long as I can.

After pursuing the executive channel, for as much and as long as it
could be pursued, I continued on with the Congress and the courts
until the end, until all doors were shut via secrecy and executive
privileges-privileges that were only aimed at protecting criminal
operations conducted by Turkish operatives and their traitor
counterparts within the U.S. government. I then turned to my last
channel, the only one left to pursue. This was the point at which
I discovered the main culprit, making it possible for all three
branches of our government to bury the truth and keep it buried. Yes,
I am talking about the fourth estate: the media as gatekeepers.

I could fill many pages with significant, witnessed, and undisputable
cases and facts that have been blacked out and censored by the media.

Through my own case and as director of an organization with over 100
legitimate and courageous national security whistleblowers I certainly
could. Instead let me give you a few startling examples.

Despite undisputed facts backed by witnesses with even more
undisputable reputations and credibility, the already scandalous
former Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert, was able to be reelected
and later retire, only to immediately join the Turkish lobbyists who
had him pocketed for many years while in public office. This was made
possible only by the willing media acting as protectors of traitors
and criminals, instead of as challengers and revealers of wrong
and wrongdoers. (You can read more on this in an article I wrote at
Boiling Frogs Post titled "Dennis Hastert: A Portrait of a Political
System Termite.") Another example involves a recent mammoth case
of a revolving door. How many people are aware of the new chairman
of the American Turkish Council (ATC), the shady organization under
investigation by the FBI, exposed by my own sworn disclosure(s) along
with other direct government witnesses? This new chairman happens to be
Richard Armitage-a former deputy secretary of state, infamous neo-con,
one of the signatories of PNAC, the man who was directly involved in
exposing a CIA operative’s identity, the culprit with involvements
in several scandalous covert operations…

You would think when this famous shady government official became the
chairman of an even shadier and highly scandalous foreign lobby, it
would make the headlines in every major and not-so-major publication.

Well, that is not the case. Not even a peep from the mainstream media
and alternatives alike.

You can find out more about Armitage, his new chairmanship of the
infamous Turkish lobby, and his history in a series researched and
authored by Mizgin Yilmaz and published at Boiling Frogs Post.

There are many facts obscured or completely glossed over by the
media when it comes to our hypocrisy-ridden foreign policies-such as
those related to Turkey and Israel, and the repulsive (to the point
of criminal) revolving door practices, like those by Dennis Hastert
and his son(s), Richard Armitage and Marc Grossman. These practices
and those committing them have been given a pass and immunity by
people in high places, and this granted immunity has been shielded,
censored, and buried by our media to protect both the practitioners
and those who allow it.

Similarly, while specific issues related to the continuous assaults
on our civil liberties have been receiving cursory coverage here and
there, they tend to be either reported through the tainted lenses
of partisanship or completely lack macro-level implications and
consequences. At Boiling Frogs Post, we have been providing sound
analyses from experts and critics involving this crucial issue.

Whether it is secrecy or police state practices, our coverage targets
"real issues" rather than symptoms used and polarized as weapons for
partisan battles.

I know it may sound as a cliche to say that I’m following the "instead
of complaining about the sorry state of our media become your own
media" line. But what is the alternative? To just give up? We will
only see many more Hasterts, Armitages, Perles, and Grossmans as long
as the media’s censorship and truth burials go unchallenged. Thus my
intention and determination to pursue this channel, and to do so with
Boiling Frogs Post.

Boiling Frogs Post is solely dependent on readers and supporters,
and has no ties to any institution, foundation, organization,
or corporation. This is the only model I see fit to be called an
independent news and views venue-untainted by external pressure,
special interests, or partisan flavoring.

Our authors and analysts present their work, not agenda scripts
or special recipes handed to them for the creation of a particular
propaganda to serve a particular interest. Our weekly commercial-free
Podcast show hosts the voices of noteworthy guests on topics
long-muffled and quashed by the mainstream media and their minions
on lower levels posing as alternatives.

Here is a list of select interviews:

James Bamford on NSA and illegal domestic wiretapping Pepe Escobar
on the current energy crisis and the quest for Central Asia-Caspian
Region Russ Baker on the concept of shadow government and the real
power centers in the U.S.

Daniel Ellsberg on the Obama presidency and whistleblowers Andy
Worthington on America’s detention center at Guantanamo Bay Chris
Hedges on the U.S. media and the empire of illusion Whether it is going
after hypocrisy-ridden foreign policy practices, the ever-revolving
doors of foreign lobbies, or our stomped upon and continuously
assaulted civil liberties, our work transcends webs put in place
by partisanship and special interests and agendas. Here are a few
examples of our work:

Sibel Edmonds, "The Makings of a Police State Series" Dr. Nafeez Ahmed,
"Yemen, Energy Crisis, and the Nigerian Crutch Bomber Series" Mizgin
Yilmaz, "Richard Armitage Series" Dr. William Weaver, "The Impulse
to Secrecy: The Glomar Response"

Sibel Edmonds, Op-ed Series I believe during this four-month trial
phase, Boiling Frogs Post has established a solid track record with
what it has accomplished, and a view of what it can accomplish given
the readership’s support and backing. We are now ready to begin our
next phase, during which we will continue to provide what you have
seen, read, and listened to thus far, and additionally, will present
exclusive video clips and investigative stories.

This site will continue and expand only by your direct support. I
am asking every one of you to consider yourself the one who can make
this possible. That without your active support this real alternative
site cannot continue or exist. And that without your help those who
consider truly independent channels like this "impossible to survive
and flourish" will be proven right, and with that we will all lose. So
please do your share and contribute whatever you can now. No donation
is either too small or too large. Please donate what you can to keep
this home of the irate minority alive, and thank you for all you do.

Sibel Edmonds is the founder and publisher of Boiling Frogs Post.

ANKARA: Of Sioux And Armenians

OF SIOUX AND ARMENIANS

Hurriyet
http://www.hurriyetdailynews.c om/n.php?n=yusuf-kanli-2010-03-07
March 7 2010
Turkey

What if the Turkish Parliament convened and passed a decision
recommending President Abdullah Gul make a statement on the anniversary
of the Nov. 5, 1862, Minnesota court-martialing of 303 Santee Sioux,
who were denied the right to defense, had no attorneys or witnesses
and were summarily "sentenced" to death by hanging to condemn the
brutal American genocide of the Sioux people?

Or, what if not the day they were sentenced to death, but the
anniversary of the Dec. 26, 1862, Abraham Lincoln-ordered hangings of
38 Santee Sioux were decided by the Turkish Parliament to be marked
as the "Men’s Worst Brutality to Men Day"?

With some work, many such heinous anniversary dates can be found
if the Turkish Parliament is to serve like a history commission
to commemorate the sad events in the history of the "white men"
in the Americas, or the French in Algeria, or the British, Dutch,
Portuguese, Spaniards, Germans in some corners of the world or as a
court to condemn those nations what happened in previous centuries.

What purpose such "creative" and "revanchist" and rather officious
undertakings will serve other than spoiling Turkey’s relations with
those countries? Will such a move by the Turkish Parliament help
diffuse the sorrow those tragedies created several centuries ago or
add fresh pains to old wounds?

The mockery at the American House of Representatives Foreign
Relations Committee will of course have some long-term repercussions
on Turkish-American relations not just because the committee has
accused the Ottoman Turkey of undertaking genocide against its Armenian
population, but more so because of the farcical attitude of committee
chairman Howard Benson who stretched to the maximum his powers as
committee chairman, worked like an activist and garnered a sufficient
number of representatives to adopt the genocide draft.

No one can deny the immense sufferings the Armenian, as well as
the Arab, Kurdish and Turkish peoples of this land suffered in
the dissolution period of the Ottoman Empire. No one can deny the
atmosphere of civil war in the decaying empire between ethnic groups,
the vandalism of armed gangs on settlements belonging to other
ethnicities. The forced resettlement decision of the then-Ottoman
government of the Armenian population collaborating with the enemy
Russian forces produced some very sad unforeseen consequences producing
immense human suffering.

Identifying who killed more, or who was more brutal toward the others
will not help soothe the immense pain the people of Anatolia were
subjected to during those terrible years. Will political exploitation
of history with one-sided and mostly unverified claims that accuse
the Turkish nation of undertaking a genocide against the Armenian
population of Anatolia help any cause other than scratching old
wounds and creating fresh enmities that are definitely not conducive
to efforts aimed normalizing relations between Ankara and Yerevan?

Naturally, the government and the opposition in Turkey are crying of
foul play, that Turkey is subjected to an unacceptable accusation and
that Turkey will not bow to pressure. Listen but don’t believe. That
has been the nature of Turkish-American relations.

Whenever the U.S. wants Turkey to deliver some services, this country
comes under some pressure and most of the time eventually agrees to
deliver whatever Washington demands. There are some exceptions like
the March 1, 2003, parliamentary refusal to allow the U.S. to open
a second front in the Iraq War through Turkish territory, but this
country has paid the price of that refusal in many ways since then.

Turkey’s importance for the U.S. designs in Iraq, Afghanistan, or in
the Caucasus or as regards to energy lines has not diminished but been
enhanced. Now, Ankara will come under intense pressure to deliver in
many areas to the U.S. so that the draft doesn’t go to the House floor,
or even if it does go there, that it isn’t adopted. For example, it
is likely that the U.S. administration will start telling tomorrow
that it should get the protocols with Armenia approved by Parliament
and the border gates with Armenia opened.

Turkey should make a thorough assessment of where its interests
indeed are. Should we scrap the Armenian protocols or go through the
processing of the Armenian protocols, block a genocide resolution
adopted by the House and force Washington to use its leverage on
Yerevan to get out of Nogorno-Karabakh? Which is more rational and
best serves Turkey’s interests?

It isn’t unlikely that the Israeli lobby in the United States has
played a major part in the recent US congressional vote that accused
Turkey of committing genocide against the Armenians in 1915, commented
Abdelbari Atwan, the editor-in-chief of the pan-Arab newspaper Al
Quds al Arabi.

"For it is clear that Turkish-Israeli relations have been on a steady
decline since Recep Tayyip Erdogan took his stance against the latest
Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip and continued his public calls for
lifting the oppressive Israeli blockade on Gaza."

The Israeli lobby has tremendous sway in the US congress. The Israeli
lobby has always stood by Turkey against the Armenians, but after
changes in the Turkish position regarding the Palestinian cause,
the pressure group started turning against Ankara’s interests.

Though the congressional committee’s vote was tight, 23 ayes to 22
nays, it came as a destructive blow to the momentous Turkish efforts
towards normalising relations with its Armenian neighbour. Israel
has a major stake in Ankara becoming isolated in the region because
Mr Erdogan, the Turkish prime minister, is the only state leader who
has not yet been tamed in one way or another by Israeli power and
has become "a thorn in Israel’s side".
