HEARINGS ON NKR CONSTITUTION TO BE HELD IN AUGUST

Early August it is envisaged to hold hearings on NKR Constitution,
featuring the political parties functioning in Artsakh, NGO
representatives and experts. Currently the NKR draft Constitution is
under consideration of the NA Standing Committee on State-Legal,
Official and Security Issues, which should study it and draw
conclusions, Press Service of the NKR Parliament told " Armenpress."

NATO does not want to substitute the OSCE Minsk Group as the Karabakh
settlement intermediary, Assistant Secretary General Jean Fournet
told a Tuesday press conference in Baku.

He is taking part in the NATO Week in Baku.

NATO encourages the Azerbaijani and Armenian search for Karabakh
peace settlement, he said. The alliance thinks that both countries
should avoid moves that may endanger the peace process, he added.

NATO shows big interest in the settlement negotiations, however,
the Minsk Group remains the chief intermediary, Fournet said.

He said that the alliance has a good partnership with all the three
South Caucasian republics and Russia. He said the cooperation will
develop, as all of them encounter the same challenges: terrorism,
proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and human trafficking.

A protest action was held today in Yerevan at the residential house
of president. The protestors were the residents of Biuzand, Arami and
Lalayants streets who were demanding their ownership rights on land
and adequate money compensation for houses destroyed for "state needs."

In the words of the protestors, their houses were estimated in a very
low sum on which they cannot buy new houses. "We received only $300
per one sq. meter in case when Yerevan municipality paid $900 per sq.
meter," they say.

Police officers regulating the demonstration advised to write another
letter to the head of the state. The protestors do not see any more
point to apply to Yerevan municipality.

Gazprom Intends To Acquire Iran-Armenia Gas Pipeline

GASPROM INTENDS TO ACQUIRE IRAN-ARMENIA GAS PIPELINE

YEREVAN, July 3. /ARKA – RIA Novosti/. Gasprom intends to acquire
Iran-Armenia gas pipeline that is under construction now, the company
board Vice Chairman Alexander Ryazanov said Friday at shareholders’
annual assembly in Moscow.

In his words, the gas pipeline exploitation will make it possible
to enhance security of gas supply to Armenia. He says there are
problems with gas transit to Armenia from Georgia, since the latter
"takes gas without any authorization".

Ryazanov said that the gas pipeline would start functioning in 2007
and would convey 1.2bln cubic meters a year.

Construction of Armenian section of Iran-Armenia 141-km pipeline with
700-diameter pipes is estimated to cost $120 million. The construction
is to be carried out at the expenses of Iranian side. In return,
Armenia will provide electric power to Iran.

MOSCOW, July 3 (Itar-Tass) – The Moscow prosecutor’s office has
demanded the re-qualification of a criminal case on an attack on a
group of people that took place in the Moscow underground on Saturday.

The prosecutor’s office spokesman Sergei Marchenko told that
investigators had ascertained that about 15 unknown persons assaulted
four Armenians and one Azerbaijani at the underground station Kuznetsky
Most at about 17:00 Moscow time.

Two Armenians and the Azerbaijani suffered knife wounds and two more
of the attacked other bodily harm.

The Moscow prosecutor’s office ordered to the prosecutor’s office of
the Moscow Metropolitan to re-qualify the earlier opened criminal case
from hooliganism to "instigation of hatred or enmity, humiliation of
human dignity of a person or a group of persons on the basis of sex,
race, nationality, language, origin, or religion committed publicly".

Two Armenian constructers aged 20 and 23 sought medical care for cut
wounds on Saturday, saying that they were injured in a conflict with
a group of 17-18-year-old people.

YEREVAN, July 3. /ARKA/. There have been no occurrences of drought
hazard to irrigated lands of Armenia, and it is not expected, chief
of the department for land use and development, Armenian Ministry of
Agriculture, Mamikon Gasparyan told reporters today.

According to him, the water storage satisfied all the needs of
Armenian farmers.

"The drought in highland areas was due to the simultaneous beginning
of farmers’ land irrigation. Farmers hoped that heavy rains would
be enough for ripening of the crops, and they did not begin timely
artificial irrigation," he said.

He pointed out that panic shortly occurred, however, it was overcame,
also due to the efforts of the Union of Water Consumers.

Heavy rains were continuing from April 20 to the mid of May in Armenia,
and high humidity rate was recorded. A high temperature rate has been
recorded in Armenia since the mid of May.

conflict will be touched at the World Summit of Religious Leaders,
which opened in Moscow July 3, reported the Department of Muslims
of the Caucasus (DMC). Chair of the DMC sheik-ul-Islam Allahshukur
Pashazade, who take part in the summit "will urge world religious
leaders to solidarity in supporting Azerbaijan’s fair cause." The

Aviation (SDCA) of Armenia will leave for France July 3 to take part
in modeling the flight of crashed A-320 Armenian liner, SDCA
Spokesperson Gayane Davtyan reported. In her words, Deputy Chief of
Inspection of Flight Security of the State Department of Civil
Aviation Gagik Galstyan will go to Toulouse with that purpose.

«Modeling, which will be based on the data of decoding of flight
recorders of the air liner, will allow recreating the flight process,»
Davtyan remarked, reports Novosti-Armenia.

On May 3 night Airbus-320 owned by Armavia national carrier crashed in
the Black Sea 6 km away from Adler airport killing all of 113 people
aboard, including 6 children and 8 crewmembers. June 17 the
Inter-State Aviation Committee completed works on decoding the
records, registered by parameter recorder of A-320, as well as
synchronizing the objective control means aboard and on land.

Torosyan explained that this time the Azerbaijani delegation raised
the issue of fires in the green areas around Nagorny Karabakh. He
informed Terry Davis of the real picture. T. Torosyan pointed out that
the Azerbaijani delegation performed a political show in Strasbourg 2
weeks before the NKR leadership applied to the Representatives of OSCE
CIO Assistant for monitoring of the real situation. In such conditions,
one cannot hold Armenian delegates from return speeches. In his turn,
Terry Davis called the slander and lie unworthy of the Council of
Europe and proposed taking measures to correct the situation. He agreed
that the problem is really serious and promised to take measures. As
regards the June 8 interview of Terry Davis with the correspondent of
Yerkir Media TV, CE Secretary General explained that the correspondent
drove him to make condemning statements, specifically, on the problem
of Armenia’s economic blockade by Turkey while he has no sufficient

BAKU: Swedish Parliamentarians Visit Occupied Azerbaijani Territorie

SWEDISH PARLIAMENTARIANS VISIT OCCUPIED AZERBAIJANI TERRITORIES

The delegation led by Swedish parliamentarian Ulla Hofman visited the
occupied Azerbaijani territories at the invitation of the authorities
of the alleged "Nagorno Karabakh Republic" (APA).

The Swedish delegation composed of members of the Swedish Left Wing
Partys arrived at the occupied Azerbaijani territories through
Armenia and met with Rudik Usnunch, vice-speaker of the alleged
"Nagorno Karabakh Republic’s parliament" Expressing his gratitude
to the Swedish government for recognition of the so-called "Armenian
genocide", Rudik Usnunch asked the parliamentarians to take steps in
recognizing "The Nagorno Karabakh Republic" as an independent state.

Ulla Hofman said the party she represents has always taken interest in
Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh and said they will have regular relations
with the "The Nagorno Karabakh Republic".

The Swedish parliamentarians accepted the invitation to the events on
"the 13th anniversary of the liberation of Mardakert region of the
Nagorno Karabakh Republic from Azerbaijani Armed Forces".
