DINAMO CRUSHES PYUNIK 3:0 IN ZAGREB

Pyunik was self-confident, but in five minutes of the second half,
the Blues attained 3:0. Zagreb will be watching more European matches!

ZAGREB, CROATIA – The Maksimir stadium was empty, but a match was
played nonetheless, between Dinamo and Pyunik, essential for passing
through to the third preround of the Champions League qualifiers. This
void on the stalls is a result of the Udine incident when flares were
thrown and was a handicap. The next step is to wait for the match in
Ireland and hope that Bohemians can surprise Red Bull Salzburg.

DINAMO – PYUNIK 3:0 (Mandzukic 30′, Badelj 61′, Lovren 66′) Ilija
Sivonjic did not get in their way, because he was injured during
the week. He was replaced by the great Chile player Morales, who
recently fought his own battle with the swine flu. He ventured out
on two excellent assists.

The match started with Pjunki`s attack, but things were much more
interesting for everyone, because every sound from the pitch could
be heard. This was a good lesson for everyone; the fans not to harm
the club, as well as to the club to realise how much they miss their
fans. Both parties realised, in an extreme way, that they cannot play
without each other.

Mandzukic`s goal sets things in motion

As expected, the Blues were dominant on the pitch. During the first
15 minutes, the guests were on the brink of receiving a goal, but
they blocked kicks with a lot of sacrifice and made the job for their
goalkeeper a lot easier. Still, Dinamo players became more precise.

Unfortunately, this precise feature was not long-standing, which
caused coach Jurcic to scream and shout. He demanded pressure,
because he noticed a severe drop in his team`s play, which is not
recommendable in such serious matches.

Just when things looked bleak, Morales forwarded an excellent ball
to Mandzukic and the best Blues striker scored easily, breaking the
ice. A relief was felt straight away, because the pressure was now on
the Pyunik`s side and Dinamo could organise their game with more ease.

In stead of crowning their dominance after the first goal, the
play calmed down and actually, things looked like before Mandzukic`s
execution. Coach Kruno Jurcic could not hide his anger, his expression
was terrifying.

Blues resolve the match in five minutes Although mad as hell,
Jurcic did not change the line-up, neither did his colleague from
Pyunik. Dinamo attacked more that the rival team, which finally
motivated Sammir, who completely invisible in the first half.

Striker Mandzukic joined the playful Brazilian, along with Morales and
this all added speed and zeal. Things started seeming a lot better, but
the second goal was necessary, sufficient for qualifying. Papadopoulos
was close after a combination with Morales, but was not fast enough
in the final metres.

Morales had the ball, it looked as if he was going to launch a missile,
but instead he let Badelj place the ball in the lower left corner of
the goal. Morales scored his second assist, Dinamo its second goal
and the third prerpund was at an arm`s length!

To confirm Dinamo`s supremacy, Lovren did his best. Sammir threw in
the ball and from that point on, it was all a question of routine. The
Armenian goalkeeper was powerless once again, and Dinamo resolved
its qualifier.

It was especially positive that the players wanted to score more,
which is a sign of their serious disposition, professionalism and
motive to score big on a European level. Mandzukic came close to
another goal, but failed. Chago came in a bit later and kicked the
ball with his left foot, but the Pyunik goalkeeper defended his goal.

The Armenian champions could not get the ball to Dinamo`s side of the
pitch, they seemed rather dazed and could hardly wait for the match
to end.

Armenia, Azerbaijan Leaders Discuss Conflict Settlement In Moscow

ARMENIA, AZERBAIJAN LEADERS DISCUSS CONFLICT SETTLEMENT IN MOSCOW

RIA Novosti
21:4217/07/2009

YEREVAN, July 17 (RIA Novosti) – The presidents of Armenia and
Azerbaijan, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, met in Moscow on Friday
to discuss the Nagorny Karabakh conflict.

The talks focused on settlement principles that were agreed at
internationally mediated talks in Madrid two years ago, Armenian
television reported.

The presidents’ bilateral talks will be followed on Saturday by
three-way discussions involving Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Nagorny Karabakh, a region in Azerbaijan with a largely Armenian
population, has been a source of conflict between the former Soviet
republics since the late 1980s. The province has its own government
and is de facto independent.

The secretary general of the Organization for Security and Cooperation
in Europe (OSCE) said earlier in the day that Armenia and Azerbaijan
need to make concessions based on the principles set out by the OSCE’s
Minsk Group mediating the conflict.

The co-chairs of the Minsk Group – the United States, Russia and
France – said during the G8 summit in Italy earlier this month that
they would submit a revised set of proposals on the disputed region.

"The principles declared in L’Aquila by the leaders of the states
co-chairing the OSCE’s Minsk Group should be acceptable to both
parties in the conflict, and they should move towards rapprochement
on the basis of these principles," Secretary General Marc Perrin de
Brichambaut said at a news conference in Baku.

The Minsk Group said any agreement must be based on an accord reached
in 2007 in Madrid.

The group also unveiled new principles for settling the dispute,
including defining Nargorny Karabakh’s status in regard to freedom
of movement with Armenia, as well as road and rail links between
the countries. The group also said that security in the area must be
guaranteed and troops should be withdrawn.

The war between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the mountainous enclave
in 1988-1994 left an estimated 35,000 people dead. Sporadic violence
on the border has continued ever since.

Iranian Airliner Caught Fire Before Crash: Armenian Official

IRANIAN AIRLINER CAUGHT FIRE BEFORE CRASH: ARMENIAN OFFICIAL

Agence France Presse
July 15, 2009 Wednesday 1:01 PM GMT

An Iranian airliner en route to neighbouring Armenia crashed on
Wednesday, killing all 168 people on board, after one of its engines
caught fire, an Armenian official said.

"A fire broke out in one engine, and the pilot attempted an emergency
landing," the deputy head of the Armenian civil aviation organisation,
Arsen Pogossian, told a press conference, while stressing that his
comment was "not an official version" of what occurred.

The Caspian Airlines Tupolev crashed near a village outside the city
of Qazvin shortly after takeoff from Tehran’s international Imam
Khomeini airport.

Iran’s ISNA news agency quoted a local police officer as saying that
some witnesses had reported that the plane was on fire in mid-air.

Another witness was quoted by ISNA as saying it had circled for some
time for a possible landing before it crashed in a wheat farm.

Pogossian said it had been due to enter Armenian airspace at 12:52 pm
(0752 GMT). "at 12:48 Iranian controllers called and warned that the
plane had disappeared off radar screens," he added.

Of the 153 passengers aboard, 147 were Iranian, of whom 31 were of
Armenian origin, he said. The remaining six were four Armenians and
two Georgians.

Iran, which has been under years of international sanctions, has
suffered a number of aviation disasters over the past decade but
Wednesday’s crash was the worst for many years.

Caspian Airlines was established in 1992. Its website said it operates
more than 50 regular and numerous charter flights each week between
Iranian cities and international flights to Hungary, the United Arab
Emirates, Syria, Ukraine, Armenia, Belarus and Turkey.

Landlocked Armenia has been seeking closer ties with Iran because of
an economic blockade imposed by neighbours Azerbaijan and traditional
foe Turkey.

The Islamic republic is home to hundreds of thousands of Armenians
and a string of historically important churches of the country’s
Gregorian rite.

Madrid Principles Have Positive As Well As Negative Sides For Armeni

MADRID PRINCIPLES HAVE POSITIVE AS WELL AS NEGATIVE SIDES FOR ARMENIA, ARMENIAN POLITICAL EXPERT THINKS

ArmInfo
2009-07-16 14:11:00

ArmInfo. The Madrid principles have positive as well as negative
sides for Armenia, Armenian political expert, stepan Grigoryan, said
at today’s press-conference. He said that disclosing of the Madrid
principles means resumption of the negotiating process on Karabakh
settlement, and this is positive.

As for the negative sides of the mentioned principles, Grigoryan
thinks that the points which meet the interests of the Azerbaijani
party, are more specific then the pro-Armenian points. ‘For instance,
one of the points says that the territories around Nagornyy Karabakh
should be returned under the control of Azerbaijan. We see this is a
very strict and clear point in favor of Azerbaijan. But let’s touch
on the point which more or less meets our interests, determination of
the final legal status of Nagornyy Karabakh, there is no specification
here and it is not clear how it will take place’, – Grigoryan said.
