ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY: BAKU IS TALKING TO ITSELF

In his interview with Haylur analytical talk show, aired by the
Armenian Public TV, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh
Kocharian has commented the statements of Azerbaijani President
Ilham Aliev.

When asked about the current stage of the negotiations, Shavarsh
Kocharian said: "It’s reliably known that there is the only document
is on the table, accepted by the sides as a basis for negotiations –
the Madrid Document of 2007, containing the Basic Principles of the
settlement to the Karabakh conflict. Then the Co-Chairs delivered some
proposals, which were exactly rejected by the Azerbaijani side. The
recent example is the withdrawal of the snipers from the boundary,
categorically rejected by Azerbaijan.

"The disclosed part of the Madrid Document shows that the settlement to
the conflict contains three international norms – self-determination
of the nations, territorial integrity, and non-use of force. The
statements that Azerbaijan is used to making are contrary to the
Madrid Document. This makes one think that Baku is talking to itself,
coming to some acceptable for itself decisions and is trying to submit
its own wishes as a result of negotiations.

Definitely, this is a falsification of the talks," said Shavarsh
Kocharian.

When asked to comment the information that is being spread by the
Turkish and Azerbaijani media about surrendering of territories and,
in particular, the statements of Aliev and Erdogan, Kocharian said:
"If one says ‘halva,’ it doesn’t sweeten your mouth. Regarding to
the statements, in the end, the conflict has its certain causes and
there is a responsible side for the consequences.

"The conflict’s roots are obvious: they come from the exercising the
right of the people of Nagorno Karabakh to self-determination. And
what’s the reason for the conflict? Actually, the reason is
Azerbaijan’s implementation of the violence policy – mass killings
and massacres against civil Armenian population, ethnic massacres,
and aggression. Who is responsible for consequences? Surely, that
is Azerbaijan, an aggressor, who from the beginning acted by means
of force and violence and launched a military aggressive campaign
against Nagorno Karabakh. This is the essence of reality."

"TURKEY AND AZERBAIJAN WILL ESTABLISH HIGH-LEVEL STRATEGIC COOPERATION COUNCIL": RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN:

"One of the most important decisions we have taken at the meeting
with honorable President is the establishing of Strategic Cooperation
Council. This organization will cover all spheres and it will be the
most important step towards the future of Turkey and Azerbaijan",
said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a joint press
conference with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Baku,
reports the Azerbaijani news agency APA.

Erdogan also said experts from the both countries were seriously
working on this issue.

"I hope we can lay foundation of this organization during the
visit of honorable Aliyev to Istanbul. In parallel, we have to
develop economic relationship further and to move from the existed
point. Azerbaijan could overcome the international financial crisis
and use the opportunities. Turkey also had few losses during the
crisis. Our solidarity will move us to more different level in future."

Speaking about the brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey
Erdogan reaffirmed the principle of"One nation, two states."

"They are not just words, but rather a reality. We are countries that
build their future by giving strength to each other."

Referring to the Karabakh issue he said that Baku continues to have
a positive approach, and that Ankara cannot remain indifferent to
the issue, and that their views in that relation remain unchanged.

"Azerbaijan continues to have a positive approach over the issue.

Azerbaijan positively reacted to the proposals by the [OSCE] Minsk
Group during the recent talks, while Armenia has not given any answer
over the issue," said Erdogan, adding the OSCE MG should be more

Jan Fischer, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, is convinced that
Karabakh issue should be settled in the frames of the OSCE Minsk Group.

"I am convinced and I state once again that Karabakh issue should be
settled in the frames of the OSCE Minsk Group," he said at a joint
press conference with the Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan in Yerevan
Monday. He noted that Armenia should demonstrate a very balanced
approach over the issue.

"Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be settled diplomatically, in
a well-thought-out way which will not lead to war so that none of
the sides suffers losses," Fischer highlighted. According to him,
Armenia has taken the right path.

In turn, T. Sargsyan said Armenia signifies the Czech Republic’s
balanced position over Nagorno-Karabakh settlement.

"We signify that the Czech Republic also finds that the talks in the
frames of the OSCE Minsk Group are the only way to ensure the peaceful
settlement of the conflict," Tigran Sargsyan said.

Roundtable in Stepanakert: Karabakh experts urge responsible approach
from international community Governance is talent/an art which requires
skills. NONE of current authorities have these skills. They have
just the skills to mislead the public and secure there privileges
by very means! I admire all those who did fight for the foredoom
of Arstakh but all these doesn’t mean that Armenian people should

Karabakh experts are looking for ways out of the impasse in the region
and new ideas were voiced during a roundtable discussion that was
recently held in Stepanakert upon the initiative of the NKR Public
Council on Foreign Policy and Security.

The participants of the forum entitled "Artsakh Settlement. Legal and
Political Aspects" first of all suggested calling on the international
community to show responsibility.

Manvel Sargsyan of the Armenian Center for National and International
Studies (ACNIS) thinks Nagorno-Karabakh has every reason to present
a claim to the international community concerning its recognition of
Azerbaijan while it refuses to recognize Karabakh. "This had grave
consequences, gave rise to aggression as a result of which 25,000
people were killed, hundreds of thousands were rendered homeless,"
said Sargsyan.

Experts noted that the only way to resolve the conflict is the
recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

"There are two ways of recognizing the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh
– either by the authorities of Azerbaijan or by the international
community," said lawyer Andrias Ghukasyan. "If the independence
of one state must be permitted by the authorities of another state,
then what compromise can we talk about? The political reality excludes
mutual compromises. In fact, the goal of the negotiations is to make
sure hostilities do not resume," said Ghukasyan.

It was also suggested that the international community has no right
to demand or expect from NKR unwarranted concessions either regarding
territories or the status of an independent state.

Based on the results of the roundtable a number of nongovernmental
organizations, representatives of the expert political science
community, mass media joined the appeal that the Public Council on
Foreign Policy and Security had earlier addressed to the Diaspora to
start the process of international recognition of NKR.

The roundtable participants noted also a tendency towards changing
the configuration of the conflict.

"The war was halted when two world blocs collided. Now, Turkey has
offered to start building relations with Armenia, open the border. So
far, Turkey has kept the border closed, but never said that the
Karabakh problem should be resolved in favor of Azerbaijan. Now it
has become an international condition being advanced by Turkey. In
other words, the international parameters of the Karabakh conflict
are being breached," said ACNIS’s Sargsyan.

The expert added that Azerbaijan is trying to convince everybody that
it has the right and possibility to resolve the Karabakh conflict
by force.

The Public Council also said that it intends to continue to express an
active position and advance new ideas, because it deems that Karabakh’s
passive position was a factor that contributed to the aggravation of
the conflict.

Turkish feminist and nationalist Halide Edip (1885-1964) for a time
ran the Armenian orphanage near Beirut. Univ. of Texas

Hollywood, Calif. – By the end of WWI over 150,000 Armenian children
were left parentless as a direct result of the Armenian Genocide
perpetrated by the Ottoman Authorities. Near East Relief commissioned
by the US Congress catered to over 132,000 Armenian orphans alone.

"Orphans of the Genocide" is a short film produced by the Armenoid
Team, which debuted on April 24, 2010 at the commemoration of the
95th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Hollywood, Florida.

This short documentary includes a feature interview by Maurice Missak
Kelechian, whose findings unveiled the secrets of an orphanage in
Antoura near Beirut, Lebanon where 1,000 Armenian Genocide Orphans
were being Turkified.

Mr. Keleshian’s research prompted a recent article by award winning
journalist Robert Fisk of The Independent newspaper of London.

"Jemal Pasha, one of the architects of the 1915 genocide, and – alas
– Turkey’s first feminist, Halide Edip Adivar, helped to run this
orphanage of terror in which Armenian children were systematically
deprived of their Armenian identity and given new Turkish names,
forced to become Muslims and beaten savagely if they were heard to
speak Armenian," Mr. Fisk wrote in his article.

The documentary also includes testimonials from children of Armenian
Genocide orphans.

"We already have embarked on expanding Orphans of the Genocide to a
one hour documentary" says Bared Maronian, the director of the piece.

"Our goal is to expose stories like the Antoura Orphanage that have
taken place during the Armenian Genocide and make them known to the
public." states producer Bedo Der-Bedrossian.

"The information on Armenian orphans was overwhelming. However
the material was scattered, so we decided to launch a website:
, which is still under construction." concludes
co-producer Paul Andonian.

The sixty minute version of the documentary will include an exclusive
interview by Robert Fisk of The Independent.

Orphans of the Genocide is directed by four time Emmy Award winning
filmmaker Bared Maronian, produced by Bedo Der-Bedrossian and Paul
Andonian.

The Armenoid Team has produced a number of award winning
documentaries. A link to a seven minute trailer of Orphans of the
