Fans Slam Kim Kardashian For Turning a Church Outing Into a ‘Glam Shot’

Kim Kardashian West loves documenting her life on social media. And she recently took a trip to Armenia with her family so that her children could learn about where their ancestors are from. Kardashian has visited Armenia in the past, but this was the first time she visited the country with her own family. However, some fans thought her recent church photos were distasteful.

Robert Kardashian, the Kardashians’ late father, was Armenian and took a lot of pride in his culture and heritage. The four Kardashian children grew up with a strong appreciation of Armenia and have gone to visit several times, especially since losing their father. This past week, the Kardashians took a long-anticipated return trip to Armenia, and this time, Kim Kardashian West and Kourtney Kardashian brought their children along for the trip. Kardashian West wanted her kids to learn about where her side of the family comes from and introduce them to where their ancestors once lived.

Kardashian West and Kanye West have done their best to incorporate religion into their children’s lives. It’s unclear how much Kardashian practiced religion when she was growing up, though the family does seem to turn to God for a lot of things in life. Now that West does his Sunday service, Kardashian West’s kids have become more involved in religion than ever. And during the family’s trip to Armenia, Kardashian West’s children were baptized in one of Armenia’s most well-known cathedrals. Though she loved sharing the photos of her family, some fans weren’t too pleased.

Kardashian West posted two sets of photos to her Instagram from her family’s time spent in the cathedral. And though the photos were beautiful, not everyone was happy to see that she was posting photos during something that seemed so personal. “Why can’t you guys just have a special, personal family experience without photographing it and turning it into a glam shot,” one user commented. “When u [sic] get baptized just for the ig [sic] pics,” another person wrote. Others took issue with her tight dress in the church. “If u [sic] were baptized, dress properly!” one user added. “Your outfit seems a little tight for a baptism.”

Though Kardashian West is proud of her heritage and proud of what she did for her family, the Kardashians have received criticism from photos before. Fans have taken issue with everything from over-editing to using Photoshop and have suggested in the past that the family posts too many personal events to social media. However, Kardashian West seems to enjoy sharing close family moments with her followers, since so many of them love and support her. Though they mostly block out the haters, it doesn’t stop some fans (or trolls) from saying how they feel about the way she parents her kids and lives her life.

World Congress of Information Technologies Kicks Off in Yerevan

An concert billed as the fist-ever AI performance, kicked off Word Conference on Information Technologies in Yerevan

The much-anticipated World Congress of Information Technologies kicked off in Armenia on Sunday evening with a concert celebration in Republic Square, featuring the first-ever artificial intelligence concert. The official program for WCIT began on Monday morning at the Karen Demirchyan Sports Complex in Yerevan.

The conference, which will conclude on Wednesday, is the signature event of the World Information Technology & Services Alliance and has brought together more than 2,500 participants from 70 countries.

This year, the WCIT’s theme is “The Power of Decentralization: Promise and Peril” and will explore how information and communications technology is transforming our lives for better and for worse, and its impact on profits and prosperity, safety and security, democracy and humanity.

The Congress will feature keynote presentations and panel sessions that bring together several speakers, among them Kim Kadashian-West, Alexis Ohanian, GIPHY founder Alex Chung, VaynerMedia president Gary Vaynerchuk, renowned musician Serj Tankian, Acer founder Stan Shih, famous CNN journalist Richard Quest and many others.

Sunday night’s concert at Republic Square was led by the WCIT Orchestra, composed of 100 musicians from 15 countries who were performing together for the first time on stage in real time and featured Grammy Award-winning DJ Armin Van Buuren.

The conference kicked off on Monday with welcoming remarks by Alexandr Yesayan, President of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises and chairman of the WCIT 2019 organizing committee.

“This was a big dream to bring this conference to Armenia and specially Karen Vardanyan, CEO of UATE, has this dream for more than ten years,” he said adding that “Armenia is now uniquely positioned today to become the center for this next three days as well as to become the center in the region as IT is developing in our country.”

Deputy Prime Minister TIgran Avinyan participated in the WCIT

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who delivered introductory remarks at the event, said, “we believe we can make Armenia a paradise for talented people”

“The IT sector in our country has grown about five times in the last seven years. A steady 20% to 25% growth is recorded every year,” the PM noted.

Also speaking at the first day of the conference was Richard Clarke, National Security Expert and author, Chairman of the Middle East, Global Change, countries like Armenia can become economic powerhouses.

“Countries like Armenia, countries that train people in how to code, can become economic power houses, by tying into the knowledge economy,” he noted warning that if we do not create international norms, then the IT we are creating will become “a weapon against us”.

It is proven that those countries, such as Armenia, that make a decision to commit to ICT development benefit greatly, said the Yvonne Chiu chair of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance, who added that Armenia is deservedly considered the “Silicon Valley of the former Soviet Union.”

On the margins of the WCIT conference, the opening ceremony of DigiTec Expo 2019, the largest and most anticipated event in the IT field, took place at Mergelyan Institute’s Yerevan Expo Center on Sunday.

The Executive Director of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) Karen Vardanyan and the Co-Founder and General Director of Ucom, the Platinum Sponsor of the event, Hayk Yesayan, state officials, representatives of local and international organizations, diplomats and other guests were also present at the opening ceremony of DigiTec.

On the sidelines of the annual regional exhibition of IT technologies DigiTec, Armenia and India signed an agreement on franchising of engineering ArMath laboratories.

Also, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Armenia and Ethiopia which provides for the opening of over 50 engineering laboratories for schoolchildren according to the model operating in Armenia.

According to Vardanyan, the ministers who have arrived in Armenia to participate in the WCIT forum are interested in cooperation with the Armenian side.

Asbarez: ‘Legacy of Diana Apcar:’ An Event Dedicated to Armenian-Japanese Friendship

“Legacy of Diana Apcar”

BURBANK—The Western Diocese of the Armenian Church and the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles, supported by the Little Tokyo Service Center, the Japanese American National Museum, and the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, will co-sponsor a special presentation on the legacy of Diana Apcar by Dr. Meline Mesropyan of Tohoku University, Japan. Apcar, who lived in Japan from 1891 to 1937, is known for her major impact on Japan-Armenia relations, and for assisting Armenian refugees.

The presentation will take place on Tuesday, September 17 at 7 p.m., at the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, 3325 N. Glenoaks Boulevard, Burbank, CA 91504. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Dr. Mesropyan’s presentation will focus on Diana Agabeg Apcar’s (1859 – 1937) humanitarian work. Between 1915 and the late 1920s, about 1,500 — out of several hundreds of thousands — Armenian refugees managed to reach Japan where they found Apcar’s enormous support. Through her crucial assistance, they were able to immigrate to the U.S., as well as other destinations. The presentation will focus on how Apcar was able overcome various obstacles she faced in carrying out her humanitarian work.

Dr. Mesropyan will be joined by the great-granddaughter of Diana Apcar, Mimi Malayan. In 2018, Malayan released a documentary on the life of Diana Apcar entitled, “Stateless Diplomat,” which has won several awards including the Armin T. Wegner Humanitarian Award (Arpa International Film Festival, 2019), Best Biographical Film (New Hope Film Festival, July 2019), and Audience Choice for Best Documentary (Pomegranate Film Festival, November 2018).

Dr. Meline Mesropyan was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia and initially earned her bachelor’s degree in Japanese linguistics. She graduated from the Graduate School of International Culture at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan in March 2019. She has spent the last six years as a Master’s and Ph.D. student researching the life and work of Diana Apcar. Her Ph.D. dissertation, written in Japanese and making extensive use of Japanese archival data, deals with the Japanese government’s processing of Armenian refugees during World War I and Diana Apcar’s role. She lives in Sendai and is currently in the process of developing her Ph.D. dissertation into a book on the life of Diana Apcar.

Sports: Armenia 4 – 2 Bosnia Herzegovina

BBC Sports, UK
Sept 8 2019

Armenia 4 – 2 Bosnia Herzegovina

Mkhitaryan (3'minutes, 66'minutes), Hambardzumyan (77'minutes), Loncar (90'+5minutes og)

Dzeko (13'minutes), Gojak (70'minutes)

Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored twice and had a hand in the other two goals as Armenia beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-2 in Euro 2020 qualifying.

The Arsenal midfielder, on loan at Roma, rounded keeper Ibrahim Sehic to score a third-minute opener.

He blasted a second into the roof of the net after Edin Dzeko had equalised.

Amer Gojak put Bosnia level again but Hovhannes Hambardzumyan scored from Mkhitaryan's cross and Stjepan Loncar turned a ball into his own net.

The result boosts Armenia's European Championship qualification hopes, but leaves Bosnia's in real jeopardy.

Armenia are three points behind second-placed Finland, who host Group J leaders Italy at 19:45 BST, with Bosnia another two points behind.

Mr. Pashinyan, how confident are you that our adversary [Azerbaijan] won’t hit our cyanide pit? A Jermuk resident asked this at Friday’s public assembly with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia, in the town.

“We [Jermuk] are in a war zone,” he added. “We are 18 kilometers away.”

“And how confident are you that the adversary won’t hit our nuclear [power] plant?” Pashinyan responded, but did not get into a debate with this Jermuk resident.

He assured, however, that in the conversation he will have with representatives of the Advanced Resources Development (ELARD) Lebanese consultancy firm, he will see to it that the answers to be given will be clear and not cause any misinterpretations.

The Armenian government had commissioned an expertise study to ELARD, and the latter has concluded that the operation of the Amulsar gold mine poses no threat to the waters of Lake Sevan and the mineral waters of Jermuk.
