Alert! Came, Saw, Revealed Serge Sargsyan

ALERT! CAME, SAW, REVEALED SERGE SARGSYAN

When, several days ago, it became known that the German famous
sociologist Tillman Alert was going to visit Armenia, I supposed that
the government was bringing another famous sociologist to Armenia in
order to make the usual rating tricks with his help in regard with
the Mayor election, trying to take advantage of the famousness of
the sociologist. My opinion was found out to be wrong and Tillman
Alert arrived in Armenia not to study the public opinion but Serge
Sargsyan. In other words, Alert assumed a bigger mission than I could
suppose. The German scientist is worth my apology as I predicted such
a small occupation for him, in case he was going to make a much bigger
discovery in Armenia: that Serge Sargsyan’ reveal.

It seemed to Serge Sargsyan and his propaganda responsibles that if a
famous scientist reveals him, he will reveal such things which will
admire and astonish the 800 thousands people, who, according to the
official data, did not vote for Serge Sargsyan at the presidential
election, and they will wonder why they did not give their ballots
for him. The point is that the conversation between Serge Sargsyan
and Tillman Alert was recorded and was shown by the Public TV. I
and perhaps all the others who did not know Tillman Alert before,
saw and understood how skilful professional he is and how good he is
at revealing the official sitting in front of him – the president of
an independent country.

I dare to suppose that the responsibles for the presidential propaganda
did not imagine Alert’s whole skilfulness or did not understand what
he discovered. In the opposite case, the dialogue between Alert and
Sargsyan would not be presented to the public, because what has been
"discovered" in its course was not a president of the country, of a
state, not a national leader, but a mere classic official, nothing
more. If Serge Sargsyan was able to surprise the public with his any
skill, that was his skill to conduct a petty conversation with a big
scientists. And, as skilful and penetrating the German scientists
seemed, as diminished the figure of Serge Sargsyan and the situation
was saved with the help of the part of the conversation on the hard
time which suffered Serge Sargsyan’s family and the Karabakh people
during the war period.

The organisers probably thought that if the image is revealed by a
big scientist what is revealed will be big as well. Here is their
mistake. The big reveals the small and they should be cautious before
inviting Alert. He was surely applauding the efforts of the president
to study the German language and his success in it, but the problem
is that Serge Sargsyan did not give any other reason for Alert to
applaud him during their conversation, in other words no other Serge
Sargsyan’s thought managed to leave impression on Alert other than
the German study. Let alone the thought of the president which left
impression on the public. Next time, a smaller and not that famous
scientist should be invited to a conversation with Serge Sargsyan
whose aim would be not to reveal the "subject" and to become known
through the conversation with the president rather than to testify
another professional gain.

Alexander Iskandaryan: Establishment Of Some Level Of Diplomatic

ALEXANDER ISKANDARYAN: ESTABLISHMENT OF SOME LEVEL OF DIPLOMATIC BETWEEN ARMENIA, TURKEY POSSIBLE

"If a political decision is taken to open the borders, all other
questions will be easily solved," Director of the Caucasus Institute
Alexander Iskandaryan told a press conference today. In his opinion,
serious changes are taking place today. The discussion of the Armenian
Issue in Turkey is also an important factor. The genocide had never
been spoken about in the neighbor country before.

US President Barack Obama visits Turkey. Armenian Foreign Minister
Edward Nalbandian is in Istanbul to participate in the "Alliance of
Civilizations" forum. Foreign media assert the border is going to be
open soon and Turkey and Armenia have concluded a secret agreement
to establish diplomatic relations.

According to Alexander Iskandaryan, serious steps are being taken
toward establishment of the Armenian-Turkish relations and there might
be some agreement or statement, which would outline the procedure of
opening of the border.

Director of the Caucasus Institute considers some level of diplomatic
relations could be established. "It’s clear that we are in a very
important stage. There will be some changes before April 24," he said.

Important events are taking place, but the border will hardly be
opened before April 16, according to Iskandaryan.=2 0In any event,
the opening of the border will be generally positive, since having
closed borders in the 21st century is not understandable.

Azerbaijan Taking Sufficient Measures To Protect Regional Pipelines

AZERBAIJAN TAKING SUFFICIENT MEASURES TO PROTECT REGIONAL PIPELINES – AZERI NATIONAL SECURITY MINISTER

Interfax
March 2 2009
Russia

The Azeri National Security Ministry and other bodies are taking
all possible measures to provide security of its oil and gas
infrastructure, National Security Minister Eldar Makhmudov said.

"To this end, the National Security Ministry and other government
bodies and corporate security services are involved in developing
plans and measures to protect all strategic facilities. Taking this
into account, I believe sufficient measures are being taken now to
protect the fuel and energy complex facilities," Mahmudov said in an
interview with Interfax.

Mahmudov acknowledged that there is a certain threat to regional oil
and gas projects emanating from "external forces disagreeing with the
strategic development course chosen by Azerbaijan and the projects
for setting up a new energy and transportation infrastructure."

"Although threats to security of fuel and energy facilities are
analogous virtually in all regions of the world, they have some
specifics in the South Caucasus, particularly in Azerbaijan. First
of all, this concerns Armenia’s open threats to the industrial,
transportation, and energy infrastructure located not only in
Azerbaijan but also in the neighboring states," Mahmudov said.

WASHINGTON (A.W.)-On April 3, during a news briefing aboard Air Force
One on route to France, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs
was questioned on President Obama’s position regarding the Armenian
Genocide by the White House press pool.

Asked whether the President still believes that "the Turks committed
genocide against the Armenians," Gibbs said, "We’ll get into that I
think later on." He was then asked, "During this trip?" And he replied,
"I’ll leave that for-I can’t give away everything in one gaggle,
for goodness sakes."

On April 5, U.S. President Barack Obama will arrive in Turkey, making
it the first Muslim country he visits after taking office. Analysts
say his trip will aim at strengthening ties with Ankara, and point to
the issue of the Armenian Genocide as possibly the most challenging
for the president to deal with during his talks with Turkish officials.

to Turkey.

Poulsen dismissed by Armenia

Poulsen dismissed by Armenia Tuesday March 31 2009

Jan B Poulsen has been dismissed as coach of Armenia following his
side’s poor start to their 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Slow start

The decision was taken at a meeting with Football Federation of
Armenia president Ruben Hayrapetyan on Monday and follows Armenia’s
2-2 draw with Estonia in Yerevan two days previously. Poulsen took
charge in January 2008, but despite some positive friendly results
during his 12 matches at the helm his side have been unable to make an
impact in World Cup qualifying. Saturday’s draw produced Armenia’s
first point in five matches in Group 5 and leaves them rooted to the
foot of the section. Assistant coach Vardan Minasyan has taken over on
a temporary basis and will lead Armenia for the return against Estonia
in Tallinn on Wednesday.

by Jarmo Siim

Digg this article The Arshakyanner sisters will perform for Armenia
this year at the Eurovision Song Contest. Will one plus one equal
more than two on stage?

Anush and Inga’s way to Europe’s favourite TV-show started in quite a
traditional way – their song Jan Jan was sent in to a public contest,
organised by the broadcaster AMPTV, then chosen to be in the final
of 21 songs. But when they took the stage, there was nothing usual
about them – they were an extremely talented duo and if that was not
enough then they’re also sisters!

They’ve both studied music in the same music school, later a music
instrument on a more professional level, then in the same jazz-vocal
department and acted in the same theatre. It’s not a surprise they
started composing and singing in their early childhood.

Watch the talented sisters’ pop-folk song below and tell us what
you think!

Anush and Inga will perform sixth on the 12th of May in Moscow, taking
part in the first Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Read
more about them here.

Will they qualify and perhaps even win, what do you think?
