Baku. OREANDA-NEWS . July 1, 2009. Milli Majlis (Azerbaijanis
parliament) is ready to raise it responsibility for settlement of
Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Garabagh conflict.

At todays session Musavat (Equality) opposition partys MP Nasib Nasibli
stated that he intended to submit to the Milli Majlis management a
draft law on increasing the role of the legislative body in conflict
settlement.

Increase of Milli Majliss role in Garabagh issue is necessary as
this problem has remained unsettled for a long time. The MPs should

stipulates that executive power should develop and submit a national
program on Garabagh for approval of parliament. In its turn, Milli
Majlis should conduct discussions at the end of the year within this
national programme, Nasibli said.

Armenia is occupying 20% of Azerbaijani territory following the
conflict. Ceasefire has been applied between the two countries

CERTAIN ECONOMIC GROWTH TO BE RECORDED IN ARMENIA LATER THIS YEAR

YEREVAN

Certain economic growth is to be recorded in Armenia by mid-2010,
Vazgen Safaryan, chairman of the Union of Domestic Manufacturers,
said at a press conference on Wednesday.

According to international forecasts, the world economy will grow 1.9%
by early 2010 against 1.3% decline in 2009, he said.

He thinks China and India with their seven-percent and 5% economic
growth will propel development of the world economy.

"Certain progress may be recorded in 2010, and some progress will be
visible in Armenia by mid-2010."

Safaryan pointed out that some signs of progress are already seen in
the country.

In particular, a seven-percent economic growth was recorded in May,
compared with April, thanks to investments in the national economy.

"If world prices for copper and molybdenum rise by late 2009, Armenia
will reach more vigorous economic growth", Safaryan said.

He stressed the necessity to change economic policy, create free
economic zone in border areas – Gyumri, Meghri and Ijevan as well as
ease tax pressure, since the state budget is already being formed by
foreign credits.

According to National Statistical Service of Armenia, the country
faced 15.7% economic decline in Jan-May 2009, compared with the same
period of the previous year.

ArmInfo. Certain time will pass and the relations between Armenians
and Azerbaijanis will turn out well, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to
Russia Polad Bul-Bul Ogli told journalists in Stepanakert today.

‘Unfortunately, today journalists from both countries create the
image of an enemy. It is very harmful especially taking into account
that the press is the forth power. Today one should persuade people
in the necessity of living like kind neighbours and reaching out of
helping hand to each other. Next year we shall celebrate the 65th
anniversary of the Great Victory over the fascism. Armenians and
Azerbaijanis were fighting shoulder to shoulder against the common
enemy in that war’, – the ambassador said and added that in this
context both peoples should understand that if earlier they used
to do something together, they can do the same today. Asked if the
Azerbaijani party ready to make specific steps for improvement of the
bilateral relations, in particular, to remove snipers from the line
of contact between the armed forces of Azerbaijan and the NKR, the
ambassador replied that snipers should be removed from both parties:
from the Azerbaijani as well as Armenian, and Azerbaijan is ready to
remove snipers. Asked by ArmInfo correspondent what specific steps
they are going take in the social and cultural format, he replied:
‘Why today Armenians and Azerbaijanis may live together in Russia,
create and hold business together, but they cannot do the same at
this small part of the land! I understand, there is a very complex
heritage, but we should pass through it and overcome it. Time is a
great healer.’ The ambassador also added that today a new generation
is growing in Armenia and Azerbaijan which should not inherit what
happened between the two nations.
