Les Exportations Armeniennes Sont En Baisse

LES EXPORTATIONS ARMENIENNES SONT EN BAISSE

ARMENIE

Chamlian students walk to raise money and awareness for their
counterparts in Syria

LOS ANGELES–When the Executive Committee of the Syrian Armenia Relief
Fund (SARF) appealed to the daily Armenian Schools in California to
help their brothers and sisters in Syria, it did not take long for 11
of them to start various fundraising activities in their respective
schools. Under the slogan of “A small gift from my school to yours,”
they organized various fundraising events, ranging from bake sales and
car washes to dances and walkathons, raising a total of $ 57,613.03.
Student clubs enjoyed the blessings and full support of their
respective school boards, administrations and faculties, as they
raised funds earmarked exclusively for the academic needs of Armenian
Schools in Syria.

Beyond its financial purpose, this endeavor served an educational
purpose as well, as it taught our students the importance of giving to
those who are less fortunate than us, and how our efforts can help
make a difference in the lives of our Armenian brothers and sisters
abroad. Many schools reported that their students had gone so far as
to give up their lunch money for this worthy cause.

“This experience has encouraged and made us more optimistic,” said
SARF chairperson John Titizian. He added, “We are proud of our schools
and of our students.”

Below are the funds raised by each school:

Chamlian: $21,128
Ferrahian: $10,000
AGBU Manougian-Demirdjian: $7,357.39

ARMENIA’S ECONOMY MINISTRY EXPLAINING RESTRICTIONS APPLIED WITHIN EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION TO COMMODITY TURNOVER WITH THIRD COUNTRIES

YEREVAN, December 30. /ARKA/. Armenia’s economy ministry explained
today the restrictions applied within the Eurasian Economic Union to
commodity turnover with third countries.

The ministry’s press office says that Armenia, applying nontariff
regulation instruments, is guided by the provisions of the Eurasian
Economic Union Treaty.

In particular, the treaty implies particular restrictions and bans
for imports into the Eurasian Economic Union from third countries
and exports from the union to third countries.

The restrictions are obligatory to all the members of the union. They
apply to particular groups of goods, such as civilian and service
weapons, narcotics, dangerous wastes and exotic species.

The whole list is available on the websites of the ministry and
the Eurasian Economic Commission. The aim of such restrictions is
to protect markets, local commodity producers, states, environment
and member countries’ residents and in compliance with international
agreements.

Even before joining the Eurasian Economic Union Armenia applied
appropriate restrictions to many of the listed commodities in
compliance with its international agreements.

To ensure unified approaches, the government set up competent
commissions for dealing with all the groups of goods and regulating
licensing processes in each of these groups.

The government also gave its approval to procedures of licensing and
authorization for importing and exporting gods and the lists of the
commodities subject to restrictions and bans.

Special characteristics of domestic market protection in the Eurasian
Economic Union have been taken into account in composing these lists
and regulation instruments for each particular country of the union
have been specified. For example, it is prohibited to export particular
kinds of woody materials from Kazakhstan. –0—-

We Lived With Love And Respect For One Another – Jivan Gasparyan

WE LIVED WITH LOVE AND RESPECT FOR ONE ANOTHER – JIVAN GASPARYAN

18:38 * 29.12.14

In an interview with Tert.am, renowned Armenian musician and composer
Jivan Gasparyan shared his impressions of the country’s past year’s
achievements, highly appreciating the young generation’s potential.

The musician, known worldwide as the master of duduk (Armenian woodwind
folk instrument), said he feels the dynamically changing developments
that have essentially facilitated life and the activities of people
in most different spheres.

“The world has changed; it’s not just our country. As you look around,
you see that the entire world has got into a mess. Yet thank God,
that we are in a much better situation than other countries. And I
think everything will be better in 2015. So we must thank 2014. As
to what blessing the new year will bring, we will see it soon.”

Asked whether he observes changes in the young generation’s mentality
against the backdrop of changing set of values, Gasparyan said he sees
essential differences. “I will say only one thing: that we lived the
right life, loving, respecting and believing one another. I also know
that there are different individuals with most different mentalities
among our young people, and I will say we have a nice youth in both
art and all the remaining spheres. Next to them, we also have the
negative; but that’s the case everywhere. Any piece of meat has a bone.

“I have created a path for young people to follow. Whoever succeeds
in doing anything better will do that. I owe to my masters; their
blessing has always been on me. And I wish the same to our youth.”

Gasparyan, who has been honored with numerous medals throughout his
career, said he especially praises his most recent award which he
received from Yerevan’s Kentron administrative district. “I have
many medals: 21 medals from world’s most different parts, but when
you live in your country and receive appraisal in that country,
that’s a kind of different medal.. ”

Gasparyan also wished the Armenian nation a great patience in the
coming year. “The country changes in form every year. The country’s
leaders change, but the people will remain the same people. I wish
our nation to be patient,” he added.

8th Anniversary Of Dink’s Assassinationto Be Commemorated At The Eur

8TH ANNIVERSARY OF DINK’S ASSASSINATIONTO BE COMMEMORATED AT THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

11:06, 29 Dec 2014

On January 21, 2015, the 8th anniversary of assassination of Turkish
Armenian journalist, editor-in-chief of the Istanbul-based Agas daily
Hrant Dink will be commemorated at the Europen Parliament.

On January 19, 2007, journalist Hrant Dink was assassinated in
Istanbul.

His assassination was the culmination of a decade-long campaign
of harassment by the country’s authorities, by the military and
by extremist groups. But it triggered an unprecedented upswell of
solidarity and pro-democracy activism in Turkey after more than 100
000 attended his funeral.

Today, Dink has become an icon of the movement for civil liberties in
Turkey and in Europe. His memory serves as a beacon for intellectuals,
activists and a wider public to challenge prejudice and intolerant
nationalism. Hrant Dink was an Armenian, in a country where Armenians
have long lived in fear. He was a journalist, in a country where,
more than ever free-thinking journalists are subject to pressures
and persecution. And as an advocate of peace, he was reviled by
nationalists.

After his death, Dink’s family and friends established a foundation
that has since continued and broadened his work in Turkey for civil
liberties, for the rights of minorities and for peaceful relations
with neighbours, particularly Armenia.

2015 will mark the 10th anniversary of the start of Turkey’s acession
negotiations and the Centenary of the start of the Armenian Genocide.

The commemoration on January 21 will provide an opportunity to invoke
Hrant Dink’s intellectual and political legacy, and to take stock
of the situation of the movement for civil rights and tolerance that
his assassination helped to start.
