WASHINGTON-The US District Court for the District of Columbia Tuesday
ruled that all properties for the planned Armenian Genocide Museum
and Memorial must revert to the Cafesjian Family Foundation by May 23,
court papers indicate.

The ruling comes after the court ruled in favor of the CFF on January
26 in a bitter lawsuit with the Armenian Assembly of America.

Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly also denied a motion by the Assembly
for a new trial after it lost the initial case.

“I welcome the court’s concluding verdict that finally frees us all
to build this long-awaited museum and memorial about the fact and
ongoing consequences of the Armenian Genocide,” CFF chairman Gerard L.

Cafesjian told the Armenian Reporter, commenting on the verdict.

“Thankfully, this case is finally over,” CFF counsel, John B.

Williams, told the Armenian Reporter. “The properties have to be
transferred to CFF in the next two weeks. That is what we have all
been fighting for. We hope that the Assembly leadership will be
willing to amicably resolve the few loose ends that remain.”

CFF board member Ross Vartian reiterated the call to the leadership
of the Armenian Assembly to “cease blocking the project and instead
to abide by the May 9 ruling ordering the transfer of all properties
to the CFF no later than May 23, 2011,” according to the Reporter.

“Further delay serves no constructive purpose,” Vartian added in a
comment to the Reporter, which is published by Cafesjian.

The ruling is the final judgment in the case.

RI House And Senate Recognize Genocide With Resolutions

RI HOUSE AND SENATE RECOGNIZE GENOCIDE WITH RESOLUTIONS

Wed, May 11 2011

PROVIDENCE, R.I.-On April 26, the Rhode Island House and Senate both
paid respect to the 1.5 million Armenian martyrs brutally slaughtered
by the Ottoman Turkish government.

State Senator Hanna Gallo of Cranston and State Rep. Arthur Corvese
of North Providence, along with all the lawmakers present, sponsored
and supported the 2011 version of their respective bills recognizing
April 24 as Armenian Genocide Day.

Community members present and recognized on the House and Senate
floors included CPA’s, retired car salesmen, state and city workers,
philanthropists, real-estate brokers, postal workers, UPS drivers, a
priest, and many others who took the time to make sure we do our part
here in Rhode Island to keep the record straight. Maybe someday soon,
the message that we bring along with so many other states will find
its way to Washington and to our president to make him keep his word.

Don’t hold your breath, but just remember, we helped get him elected
and we can do our best to make him a one term president.

Also, newly elected Governor Lincoln Chafee issued a proclamation as
previous governors have done recognizing April 24 as Armenian Genodice
Remberance Day.

National Committee of Rhode Island.

Armenia Strengthens The Control Over The Imported Tomatoes To The Co

ARMENIA STRENGTHENS THE CONTROL OVER THE IMPORTED TOMATOES TO THE COUNTRY

/ARKA/
May 11, 2011
YEREVAN

Inspection on the security of products of Armenia strengthened the
control over the tomatoes imported to the country, said Armenian
Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan in the government hour of the
parliament on Wednesday.

Representatives of greenhouses of Armenia applied to the State
Commission on the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) with
the complaint on the unequal competitive conditions of the imported
vegetables, particularly tomatoes imported from Turkey. Imported
vegetables are sold by lower prices which hinders the activity of the
local manufacturer. In this regard, SCPEC plans to study the activity
of the companies importing vegetables from Turkey.

Karapetyan said that State Revenue Committee of Armenia ensures that
there are no problems of unofficial import of tomatoes in the country.

As for the prices, the minister said that the market is regulating
gradually and the government is not interfering in this process. It
defines strong control over the quality of the imported tomatoes
which influences on the import volume.

Greenhouses in Armenia are developing and it is expected that their
territories will be cultivated in the nearest future.
