The information about Azerbaijan provided by the Alice voice assistant of Russia-owned Yandex search engine has caused a scandal in the country.
In a video released recently on social networks, the voice assistant, answering the question, “Who are Azerbaijanis?”, says: “Azerbaijan is a country artificially created on the lands of Armenians, Persians, Lezgins and Georgians. That state was created for the ultimate destruction of Armenians. The Azerbaijanis, as a nation, only appeared in 1936. Before that, they were called Transcaucasian Tatars.”
The voice assistant has reportedly conveyed the most popular information on the Internet based on the main publications of the Yandex search engine.
The head of the Azerbaijani community in Moscow, Shamil Tagiyev has addressed a video message to Yandex over the matter.
According to Azerbaijani media, the information has been removed from the search engine, with the voice assistant calling on its users to find the answer of the question from Azerbaijan’s Wikipedia account.
YEREVAN, November 28. /ARKA/. Amendment of Armenia’s tax code will bring a complete tax exemption to micro businesses, Armenian Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Wednesday at a rally staged in Noyemberyan as part of his party’s election campaign.
“I can’t say when exactly, since this depends on political things, but as soon as the tax code will be amended, micro businesses will enjoy a full tax exemption,” he said.
“In other words, those businesses having annual turnover of up to AMD 20-24 million will be exempted from taxes, and such businesses are widespread especially in provinces, including Noyemberyan.”
Pashinyan said that self-employed taxi drivers will be rid of the necessity of paying for their licenses.
“We are doing that to promote work and working people in our country,” he said.
Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan resigned October 16 to clear way for the dissolution of the parliament and holding early parliamentary elections. Under the Armenian Constitution, early elections are held if lawmakers fail twice within 14 days to appoint a prime minister.
Pashinyan was elected as PM by the country's National Assembly after former president turned-prime minister Serzh Sargsyan resigned on April 23 under immense public pressure provided by weeks of nationwide protest against Sargsyan and his Republican Party.
Nine political parties and 2 blocs will be contesting the polls. They are My Step bloc, the Prosperous Armenia Party, the National Progress Party, the Christian-National Revival, the Sasna Tsrer All-Armenian Party, the Orinats Yerkir Party, the We bloc, the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party, the Bright Armenia bloc, the Republican Party of Armenia, the Social Democratic Party and the Decision of Citizen party. -0—
General Manvel Grigoryan’s lawyer stated that Grigoryan’s health condition is going through negative dynamics. “In the course of the day, his personal physician visits him and interferes because the negative dynamics are evident,” says Levon Baghdasaryan.
MP Manvel Grigoryan has serious health problems: cancer and diabetes. During his stay in prison, he started receiving insulin.
During these months, the defense has filed a petition to change the preventive measure of Manvel Grigoryan, but has not been satisfied.
“In the case of Manvel Grigoryan, there is a selective justice,” says the lawyer.
Another recourse to changing Manvel Grigoryan’s preventive measure will be discussed by Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction on December 7.

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 27, ARMENPRESS. There cannot be any solution in the Nagorno Karabakh (NK) conflict settlement that wouldn’t be acceptable for the peoples of Armenia and Artsakh and the government of Artsakh, acting PM Nikol Pashinyan told reporters – addressing a recent statement by US National Security Advisor John Bolton who said that the victory of Pashinyan’s political force in the upcoming early elections of parliament in Armenia would be a good opportunity for taking action in the direction of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.
“You know, everyone speaks on their own behalf. John Bolton speaks on his own behalf, and John Bolton or generally anyone can’t speak on my behalf. It would give opportunities, but let me say that there can’t be a solution that wouldn’t be acceptable for the people of Armenia, Artsakh and the government of Artsakh”, Pashinyan said.
Pashinyan added that certain people are organizing “mini storms” regarding the NK issue online, once again stressing that there can’t be a solution that wouldn’t be acceptable for the people of Armenia and Artsakh.
“In terms of a global settlement of the issue it is clear that any solution should also be acceptable for the people of Azerbaijan. We must be public in the event of any solution. People are still guided by the old habits. Like they used to decide behind the scenes and attempt to do something behind the back of the people, we won’t have this kind of a conduct, because I don’t know how they considered it in the past, but I don’t think that the one to solve the Nagorno Karabakh issue is any government or me, or any prime minister. The one to solve or not solve the Karabakh issue are the Armenian people, and specifically the people of Armenia, the people of Artsakh and in this case also the Diaspora, because this is a Pan-Armenian issue. They are moving with the logic that they had privatized the Karabakh issue, and now they are attempting to privatize it to me, without asking my opinion. Don’t privatize, because I am not the solver of the Karabakh issue, because the solver of this issue are the Armenian people”, Pashinyan emphasized.
Speaking about a question about the Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements, Pashinyan stressed that he speaks about these agreements during any meeting. “But, unlike the previous government, we succeeded in very rapidly making concrete steps and achieve concrete agreements, including in the direction of more or less maintaining the ceasefire state, now are they pleased or displeased over this?”, he said.

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 7
By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:
The current unstable situation in Armenia may again provoke serious unrest amid intense political rivalry in this country, well-known Russian expert and publicist Dmitry Verkhoturov told Trend.
Verkhoturov was commenting on the recent events in Armenia.
According to the Armenian media, after the parliament passed a bill to prevent the dissolution of the National Assembly, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan led people into the street and said at a spontaneous rally about the dismissal of ministers from the Prosperous Armenia and Dashnaktsutyun parties, as well as that after the de jure orders for dismissal come into force, he will resign.
“A lot is at stake: the future political course of Armenia, which predetermines its development, condition and the future as a whole,” Verkhoturov said.
"Of course, supporters of keeping Karabakh under occupation, not to mention those radicals who still dream of including Karabakh into Armenia, will try to thwart any attempt to agree with Azerbaijan on the Karabakh issue, even if we are talking about purely technical issues, such as a negotiation procedure or the ceasefire regime,” he said. “So it is not surprising that these circles held rally in Yerevan in connection with an attempt to hold negotiations in Dushanbe."
“The current chaos in Armenia is not accidental,” Verkhoturov said.
"The recent conversation between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Dushanbe was held just a few days before the new unrest in Yerevan,” he added. “I think this is a planned rally aimed at torpedoing the negotiation process to resolve the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict."
Speaking about the confrontation between the Karabakh clan and the current leadership of Armenia, the political analyst stressed that so far the Karabakh clan remains the most organized, as it has the best positions in the system of power and the greatest support.
“They have an idea that promises something to the Armenians as a whole,” he added. “However, it is worth noting that hopes for building a big “Armenian kingdom” are more than illusory, but one must believe in something. Therefore, they may well seize power from Pashinyan, whose rating is rapidly falling inside the country.
Verkhoturov supposes that the Karabakh clan may come to power again in Armenia.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
