World Tourism Day Marked In Armenia

WORLD TOURISM DAY MARKED IN ARMENIA

World tourism day will be marked officially in Armenia, economy
ministry reports. According to the source an event is organized to
mark the tourism day and award giving ceremony for those who invested
much in this field.

Armenian Pm Tigran Sargsyan will attend the event and will hand
letters of thanks and the Economy Minister Nerses Yeritsyan will hand
the awards.

Since 1979, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has
celebrated World Tourism Day on September 27.

This date was chosen as on that day in 1970, the Statutes of the
UNWTO were adopted. The adoption of these Statutes is considered
a milestone in global tourism. The purpose of this day is to raise
awareness on the role of tourism within the international community
and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and
economic values worldwide.

NEARLY $10 MILLION IN THE "FIRE-RESCUE SERVICE OF THE AIRPLANES"

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS: Since 2007 "Armenia international
airports" CJSC made an investment of nearly $10 million in the
"Fire-rescue service of the airplanes".
Press officer of the company Gevorg Abrahamian told Armenpress that
the service has been provided with 3 powerful fire engines of American
production each of which costs more than $1 million. The working
conditions have improved and notable works have been conducted towards
retraining of the employees.
Regularly teaching trainings have been held, the employees of the
service took part in the trainings held by the specialists from other
states.
The "Fire-rescue service of the airplanes" operated within RA
Department of Civil Aviation and in 2007 was involved in "Armenia
international airports" company.

On September 24 at 1 a.m. police found a gun loaded with two 5.6 mm
bullets belonging to taxi passenger Artur E., 31.

Artur E. was arrested and taken to the police station. The gun has
been sent for examination and investigation is underway.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan travels to New York from 25
to 29 September to attend the 64th summit of the UN General Assembly,
MFA PR department reports.

According to the source Armenian FM will make address in the summit
and have a meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

It is also reported that Minister Nalbandyan will have a meeting with
the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.

On September 22, the Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandyan
received the CoE delegation headed European Commission Foreign Affairs
general office of Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus and Central Asia
department director Gunar Vigand.

Sides discussed the works carried out in connection with the
agreements on easing the process of getting visas of entrance and on
free commerce. Gunar Vigand informed that in November of the current
year, association agreement projects will be proposed to Armenia as
well as to other countries of the Southern Caucasus. The RA Foreign
Ministry reports.

Armenia refuses to attend conference of heads of BSEC emergency
situation agencies

Armenia has refused to participate in the conference of the heads of
the emergency situations agencies of the Organization of Black Sea
Economic Cooperation (BSEC).

"We have sent invitations to all member countries of the BSEC,
including Armenia," said Altay Efendiyev, BSEC Deputy Secretary
General at a news conference after the event.

Today, on Sept. 18, Baku is hosting a conference of the heads of the
emergency situations agencies of the Organization of Black Sea
Economic Cooperation (BSEC). The conference of the heads of BSEC has
adopted a declaration.

According Afandiyev, Armenia did not mention the reasons for their
refusal to participate in the conference. Albania, along with Armenia,
also did not participate in the conference.

Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldova,
Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine are the BSEC member-countries.

a rally at Matenadaran ancient manuscripts institute. According to
PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, RA National Party Leader Stepan Demirchyan,
RA Republican Party Chairman Aram Sargsyan and recently amnestied ex
Deputy Prosecutor General Gagik Jangiryan participated in the rally.

The meeting was opened by Armenian National Movement Leader Ararat
Zurabyan, stating that RA NA MP Khatchatur Sukiasyan was supposed to
be present at the meeting, yet was summoned by special investigation
service for interrogation.

Rally organizers focused on RA -Turkish rapprochement, noting
that RA President Serzh Sargsyan is being supported by the West in
exchange for concessions he agrees to in RA-Turkish ties normalization
issue. Participants noted that such development of events will lead
to tyranny in the country, if not stopped in due time.

After the meeting, organizers will head the rally to march through
Yerevan’s main avenue, to be completed in North Avenue.

David Nalbandyan, ex-world third racket, has commented upon Martin del
Potro’s success at US Open-2009. On September 14, del Potro defeated
Switzerland’s Roger Federer in five rounds.

"Juan Martin did fantastic work. The way he played and acted at
decisive moments was just incredible. He is the first young Argentinean
tennis player to hold victory in Grand Slam tournament. And I extend my
congratulations to him. Despite tense struggle during the first game,
he played perfectly. Such victories can seriously change his life,"
Nalbandyan said. "Del Porto’s victory is the triumph of Argentinean
tennis. Let’s hope that will keep making our fans happy," ATP official

will visit Azerbaijan by the end of September, Terry Davidson, the
Head of Public relations department of U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan
told the journalists, September 16.

"Many international diplomats value Bradtke’s experience, that
will play positive role in the peaceful and just settlement of
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Davidson
underlined.

Commenting on the appointment of new U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan,
Davidson stated it would be clear after U.S. President Barack Obama
nominates his candidate.

No information about possible visit of Bradtke to Armenia is available,
U.S. Embassy in Armenia informed NEWS.am.
