AW: Creative Armenia launches Artbox incubator

Creative Armenia has launched and opened applications for the creative incubator Artbox, which is funded by the European Union in Armenia and launched in partnership with AGBU Armenia within the framework of the KATAPULT Creative Accelerator Program.

Through a 12-week incubation process in the fall of 2022 — taking place digitally through a cutting-edge online platform — selected projects across all creative fields will be given an unprecedented opportunity to work with prominent business leaders and renowned cultural figures to develop a comprehensive package around their projects, including a business plan, marketing strategy, video pitch and financing plan. Once this package is ready, the artists will have the exclusive opportunity to present their projects for financial support, including grants provided by KATAPULT and possible investments by high-profile cultural investors.

Applications are due by August 12, 2022.

“The idea of Artbox had its spark at Creative Armenia years ago – rising from our mission to provide artists a comprehensive and vital strategic support for their creative but, more importantly, economic success,” said Creative Armenia program director Anush Ter-Khachatryan. “Today, we are thrilled to see that spark becoming an enlightenment and bringing a paradigm shift in our cultural landscape.”

Applications are open to creators around the world with projects to be realized within the Republic of Armenia. Preference is given to projects that seek investment and have potential to reach commercial success.

“Artbox is a unique opportunity that empowers artists and creative teams by investing in their entrepreneurship skills and their ideas,” said Anna K. Gargarian, the lead of KATAPULT Creative Accelerator Program. “As KATAPULT works to catalyze the creative economy, Artbox’s focus on human capital and tailored learning modules for professionalizing the sector are essential for building an industry.”

Inspired by innovative models in business and tech, Artbox is a reinvention of the incubator and accelerator model for the art world — a dynamic entrepreneurial system that provides strategic support, guidance and access to funding to creative projects in theater, music, design and across the arts, helping to develop them into commercially viable and investable creative products.

Aliyev accuses Russia of failing to fulfill "promise" on Karabakh

PanARMENIAN
Armenia –

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has declared that "Armenia refuses to fulfill its obligations to Azerbaijan under the Declaration of November 2020," and that "the problem could not be resolved even after receiving a promise from the Russian Defense Ministry."

Aliyev maintained on Friday, July 15 that one of the problems for Baku was the presence of Armenian troops in Nagorno-Karabakh, "which must leave the region in accordance with the agreements."

He noted that a high-ranking official of the Russian Defense Ministry (Aliev did not name them or their position) visited Baku several months ago and promised that "this clause of the agreement" would be fulfilled by June, RBC reported citing his office.

“But it is already the middle of July today, this issue has not been resolved yet,” the President of Azerbaijan stressed.

The Azerbaijani President added that Russia is a party to the agreement, but "does not force" Armenia to comply with the requirements, which are "clearly indicated" in the document.

Azerbaijan has not yet fulfilled the clause of the agreement on Karabakh, according to which all prisoners of war must be returned. Baku refuses to return Armenian prisoners of war.

Armenia suffered over 120 casualties during so-called peace time, MP tells OSCE

Panorama
Armenia – July 5 2022

Armenian MP Lilit Galstian of the opposition Hayastan bloc urged the OSCE Minsk Group mediators to reaffirm their commitment to resume negotiations on a comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict based on the principle of self-determination in her remarks at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on Tuesday. Her full statement is provided below.

“Honorable president, dear colleagues,

Armenia acceded to the OSCE motivated by the goals and purposes of the Organization, as well as by the principles of the UN charter.

We were convinced that our commitment is being shared by all member countries and double standards have no place in an organization with an undeniable reputation.

Regrettably, this reputation was shattered when faced with the reality – the OSCE was unable to condemn the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan and Turkey and its backed terrorist fighters in the fall of 2020. It remained silent to the racially motivated crimes by Azerbaijan with the use of chemical weapons and cluster munitions against the peaceful population of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The 9 November ceasefire stopped the bloodshed in Nagorno-Karabakh, but contrary to the Azerbaijani claims, the conflict is not over. In fact, the security challenges in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have increased, and are no less important than those in the Eastern Europe.

During the so-called peace time the Armenian side has had more than 120 casualties, Azerbaijan is repeatedly making territorial claims against Armenia, conducting a policy of ethnic cleansing, misappropriation and destruction of cultural and historical monuments, and continuing the aggressive rhetoric and hatred towards Armenia and Armenians.

No one should be under any illusion that the results of the use of force could ever become the basis for sustainable peace. Any agreement under force and against the will of the people cannot guarantee against new confrontations and aggression. The right of an entire nation to life and self-determination cannot be sacrificed to geopolitical or economic interests. It cannot be held hostage to discord between any regional or global actors. Armenians, that have survived the first genocide in the 20th century have vivid memories of the dire consequences of such calculations.

The Co-Chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group should reaffirm their commitment to resume negotiations on a comprehensive resolution of the conflict based on the principle of self-determination.”
