ERDOGAN’S STATEMENT CONSTITUTES SERIOUS VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS, FRENCH SOCIALISTS SAY

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Socialist Party of France has slammed Turkish
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s threat to evict nearly 100 000
undocumented Armenian workers in retaliation for a vote in Parliament
Swedish recognizing the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

"If executed, the threat would constitute a serious violation of human
rights and is contrary to humanist values of the European Union that
Turkey’s ambition to join," said Jean-Christophe Cambadelis, National
Secretary for Europe and International Relations.

"The Socialist Party, originally a law in France, recognized the
Armenian Genocide and strongly condemns the statement of the Prime
Minister of Turkey. If the Democratic Turkey is not responsible for
the crimes committed by the Ottoman Empire, so recognition of Genocide
is a moral requirement," he said.

BAKU: Turkish Opp to appeal Hague re so-called `Armenian genocide’

Turkish opposition proposes to appeal International Hague Court
concerning so-called `Armenian genocide’ claims

[ 19 Mar 2010 19:52 ]

Baku ` APA. Member of the Turkish Parliament from the Republican
People’s Party (CHP) Mustafa Shukru Elekdag prepared a detailed legal
document proposing to appeal the International Court concerning the
so-called `Armenian genocide’ claims and submitted the document to
President Abdullah Gul, APA reports quoting Turkish Hurriyyet
newspaper.

The document based on UN Genocide Convention and court decisions
passed on genocide issues offers two ways ` to complain to Hague-based
International Court about the countries which recognized Armenia’s
lies about so-called `genocide’ or to propose to Armenia to jointly
appeal the International Court for investigation of 1915 events.

Elekdag said the countries recognized Armenian claims took action
against the UN Convention. There should be a court decision which
could determine whether there was a crime or not. The International
Court can be asked to investigate 1915 events in accordance with the
determination of genocide fact by the UN Convention.

If the second version (joint appeal) is preferred, Turkey can not take
unilateral action because international investigation of the conflicts
between the countries should be conducted according to the agreement
by all sides. Armenia should also accept this proposal to appeal the
International Court. Elekdag said Armenia wouldn’t accept this
proposal because it had no evidence which could prove the genocide and
after its refusal Turkey would gain political and psychological
superiority at the international arena.

"The method for the synthesis of
6-imino-5-tetrahydro-1H-2-pyrrolylidenhexahydro -2,4-pyrimidinediones
is described," researchers in Yerevan, Armenia report.

"It is shown that the reaction of phosphorus trichloride,
2-pyrrolidones and 6-aminopyrimidines brings to condensation producing
6-imino-5-tetrahydro-1H-2-pyrrolylidenhe xahydro-2,4-pyrimidinediones
as intermediates for the synthesis of C-azanucleosides. The reaction
of 6-imino-1,3-dimethyl-5-tetrahydro-2-pyrrolylidenhe xahydro-2,4-pyrimidinedione
with benzoyl chloride produces 10-benzoyl-2,
4-dimethyl-6-phenyl-1,2,3,4,8,9-hexa hydropyrimido[5,4-e]pyrrolo[1,2-c]pyrimidine-1,3-d ione,"

HERITAGE PREPARING WRITTEN RESPONSE TO ERDOGAN’S STATEMENT ON EXPULSION OF ARMENIANS FROM TURKEY

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Heritage party condemns the statement of the Turkish
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on possible expulsion of allegedly
100 thousand illegal Armenian migrants from Turkey.

The party is preparing a document to address it to all member countries
of the Council of Europe, as the Turkish Prime Minister’s statement is
a violation of Council of Europe’s norms, Heritage parliamentary group
member Zaruhi Postanjyan told a briefing at the National Assembly of
Armenia on March 19.

She also described the recent statement by the Assistant Secretary of
State Philip Gordon that the U.S. government cannot put pressure on
Congress in the matter of adoption of Resolution 252 on the Armenian
Genocide as a political act with unclear consequences. "Recognition
of the Armenian Genocide by Washington is necessary for the U.S. first
of all," she said.

PRESS RELEASE

Friday, March 19, 2010

Over 2,500 Attend Ardavazt Theatre Company’s New Production of
Baronian’s "The Perils of Politeness"

The AGBU Ardavazt Theatre Company presented a new two-act production of
the immortal satirist Hagop Baronian’s "Kaghakavarutian Vnasnere" (The
Perils of Politeness), which was originally written as a prose piece and
published serially in "Khigar" monthly of Constantinople from 1886 to
1888. This enduring satire by Baronian (1843-1891) pokes fun at the
undesirable manners and mores of all classes of society in
Constantinople: bourgeois mentality, depravity, base flattery, and
nouveau riche behavior. However, since these human foibles manifest
themselves even today, the play’s popularity has not diminished at all,
despite the passage of almost over 125 years.

Skillfully dramatized by Krikor Satamian and directed by John Samuelian,
this production involving 28 talented actors and actresses ran on
Saturday and Sunday evenings from November 21 to December 20, 2009, with
ten performances at the AGBU Alex Manoogian Center in Pasadena, drawing
enthusiastic audiences that numbered more than 2,500 in total.

Subsequently, acceding to the request of the AGBU Saturday School of
Orange County, Ardavazt gave a repeat performance on January 24, 2010 at
the Ghougassian Hall of the Forty Martyrs Apostolic Church, to the
delight of more than 240 attendees, most of whom stayed on to enjoy a
delicious meal with the theater cast. This was followed by the impromptu
rendition of humorous anecdotes, readings, and skits by members of the
group, beginning with producer-director Krikor Satamian himself.

Ardavazt’s production of "The Perils of Politeness," which coincided
with the group’s 30th anniversary, invariably drew rave reviews in all
sectors of the Los Angeles Armenian press. In "’The Perils of
Politeness’: The Theater’s Lasting Gain" (Nor Or, December 10, 2009),
Vache Semerjian writes: "Ardavazt’s production is a first-class
success." In "AGBU’s Ardavazt Theatre Company Successfully Presented
‘The Perils of Politeness’" (Asbarez, December 18, 2009), Kevork
Bedigian writes: "The transformation of this satirical series to a
two-act play with two main characters [Melidos Aga and Kamig Aga] is
most commendable." In "The Perils of Politeness" (Nor Hayastan, December
11, 2009), Vahan Vahanian writes: "Our ‘The Perils of Politeness’
constituted a successful play owing to the outstanding acting of the
cast." In "The Presentation of Hagop Baronian’s ‘The Perils of
Politeness’" (Nor Gyank, December 10, 2009), Krikor Shenian writes:
"Krikor Satamian’s superiority lies in his ability to get the 28 actors
and actresses to play their roles in concert with him." In "Safe Path
for ‘Perils’" (Asbarez, December 14, 2009), Aram Kouyoumdjian writes:
"The revival of an Armenian classic is always welcome, and this
particular revival was probably overdue."

As reported by Dr. A. Kazanjian in "Thanks for the Presentation of ‘The
Perils of Politeness’" (Massis, November 28, 2009), the following are a
few of the comments made by individuals after seeing "The Perils of
Politeness": "We laughed steadily and to our heart’s content for an hour
or two"; "We enjoyed ourselves continually, forgetting our worries";
"Believe me, Hagop Baronian cheered us up for a couple of hours."

Followers of Ardavazt Theatre Company are now looking forward to its
upcoming production of one-act satires by Moliere and Feydeau.

PRIME MINISTER OF TURKEY THREATENS TO EXPEL ARMENIANS FROM COUNTRY’S TERRITORY

ArmInfo
2010-03-17 10:16:00

ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened to
expel illegal citizens of Armenia from the country’s territory.

As BBC reports, Erdogan made such a statement on March 16 at a joint
press- conference with his British counterpart in London. According
to him, only Armenia will suffer from the resolutions on the Armenian
Genocide which are passed in the parliaments of foreign states under
coercion of the Armenian lobby. When commenting on the resolutions on
recognition of the Armenian Genocide made in the Swedish Parliament
and US House Foreign Affairs Committee, Erdogan said: "Those people
make shows with those resolutions… And they harm the Armenian people
as well… And things become deadlocked". He added that Ankara has so
far tolerated the presence of 70,000 Armenians working illegally in
Turkey. "So what will I do tomorrow? If necessary, I will tell them
‘come on, back to your country’… I’m not obliged to keep them in
my country. All these actions unfortunately have a negative impact
on our sincere attitudes", he said.

TURKEY CARRIES OUT GLOBAL BLACKMAIL POLICY: ARFD

Armenia

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov is making
self-contradicting statements on Madrid Principles, ARFD member and
head of Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal
Affairs Hrayr Karapetyan told NEWS.am.

"I do not understand Mammadyarov’s stance, when hear him speaking of
referendum in Nagorno-Karabakh and meanwhile stating impossibility
of other solution to Karabakh conflict except for in territorial
integrity of Azerbaijan," MP stressed. "How can people be imposed a
decision through a referendum?" Karapetyan wonders.

According to him, by its statements and actions Baku seeks to defeat
the process and delude world community.

MP also commented on statement by Turkish Premier Erdogan, that if
needed Armenians will be deported from Turkey, which makes urgent
the recognition of Genocide by international community and Ankara
in particular. "The statement once again proves that there is an
Armenian Genocide threat in present Turkey, thus world community
should pressurize Ankara to recognize Genocide," he added.

Turkey carries out global blackmail policy that should be assessed by
Europe, U.S. and Russia accordingly, the politician deems. Referring
to the current situation, Karapetyan emphasized that Turkey found
itself in the mire and is caught in its own trap.
