Remember Where You Came From: Kim and Kourtney Kardashian Baptise Their Kids in Armenia

The stars of the Keeping Up with The Kardashians reality television series had to use the presidential exit at the airport to hide from the hundreds of fans who had gathered there to catch a glimpse of their idols.
Kim Kardashian should perhaps have thought twice before she announced on social media her plans to visit Armenia with her sister Kourtney. The aggregate number of Kim’s followers on Instagram and Twitter stands at 210 million, so no wonder when the duo appeared at Zvartnots International Airport in the capital Yerevan they had to be rushed to the presidential exit to escape paparazzi and hundreds of fans.
Kim and Kourtney arrived in Armenia together with their kids – Saint, Psalm, North, Chicago, Mason, Penelope, and Reign. Although the Kardashians’ mother, Kris Jenner, is of Irish, Dutch, English, and Scottish descent, their late father Robert Kardashian was Armenian. The reality stars decided to baptise their kids, except for Kim’s North, who was baptised four years ago in Israel, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, which is one of the most ancient Christian cathedrals in the world. Father Vahram Melikyan, director of the information department of the cathedral, said that there was no special ceremony and the Kardashians were treated like all other families.
This is the second time that Kim Kardashian travels to Armenia. Together with her sister Khloe, she paid tribute to the victims of the Armenian genocide in 2015. That year marked the 100th anniversary of the tragedy.
Since then, she has become quite involved with Armenia. This week, Kim will attend the 23rd World Congress on Information Technology in the country. In September the 38 year old socialite announced that she wants to move the production of SKIMS underwear to Armenia in order to create jobs in the impoverished country.
I will be visiting Armenia in the next 2 weeks and hope to seek ways I can help increase trade and hopefully create jobs for Armenians which includes @skims production there in the future.

Soros office in Armenia funds programs infringing national values: political analyst

Aysor, Armenia
Oct 1 2019

For years Soros office in Armenia funded projects aimed at infringement or reviewing of a number of our values, political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan who is participating in today’s VETO initiative’s action told the reporters.

“The activity of the office was a campaign against Armenian Apostolic Church and Armenian traditional family and force institutions. It was a movement to make different state institutions more controllable,” he said, adding that the campaign succeeded and the forces funded by Soros office managed to seize the power in Armenia.

The political analyst said that VETO’s activity is aimed at fostering state institutions and preservation of Armenian values.

“Recently I have started supporting VETO trying to participate in its gatherings and to once again voice about the dangers existing in our country today. We must make our state, people and church find their worthy place and role in the life of our society,” Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan said.

Heghnar Zeitlian Watenpaugh’s “Missing Pages: The Modern Life of Medieval Manuscript, From Genocide to Justice”

In 2010, the world’s wealthiest art institution, the J. Paul Getty Museum, found itself confronted by a century-old genocide. The Armenian Church was suing for the return of eight pages from the Zeytun Gospels, a manuscript illuminated by the greatest medieval Armenian artist, Toros Roslin. Protected for centuries in a remote church, the holy manuscript had followed the waves of displaced people exterminated during the Armenian genocide. Passed from hand to hand, caught in the confusion and brutality of the First World War, it was cleaved in two. Decades later, the manuscript found its way to the Republic of Armenia, while its missing eight pages came to the Getty. Reconstructing the path of the pages, Watenpaugh uncovers the rich tapestry of an extraordinary artwork and the people touched by it. At once a story of genocide and survival, of unimaginable loss and resilience, “The Missing Pages” captures the human costs of war and persuasively makes the case for a human right to art.

Admission to the presentation will be free. Free parking, for a maximum of three hours, will be available across the street at the Glendale Marketplace parking structure, with validation at the service desk.
