A1+: Aram Harutyunyan: Aleksanyan and Pashinyan have chocolate-relationships (video)

According to Aram Harutyunyan, leader of the National Accord party, the government has not fulfilled its promises.

“Today, the promises made in the square are not fulfilled, I mean the corruption. According to rumors circulating in the air, number one corruption maker in Armenia is Nikol Pashinyan. If at that time, money was brought to 26 Baghramyan by baggage, there is now a tax collector. The fact that Nikol Pashinyan’s relative works in the system of Samvel Aleksanyan as the head of the cadre department states that Aleksanyan and Pashinyan have chocolate-relationships. Where is Gagik Khachatryan, where is the shadow that is said? We see no serious changes.”

As for the economic revolution, Aram Harutyunyan thinks there are no reforms and there is no hope.

And Hovik Aghazaryan, a member of the “My Step” faction, responded that there is no corruption in the upper level, it does not rule out the presence of corruption in middle and low level.

The deputy said: “If an announcement is made that they pay the money, so then give also names.”

Contrary to this, Aram Harutyunyan gave the name of Gagik Khachatryan, to which Aghazaryan replied that Gagik Khachatryan will soon have to answer for his legal actions.

According to sociologist Aharon Adibekyan, it is too early to talk about the economic revolution.

“There were $ 3 billion coming from outside, and now it has dropped three times. That $ 3 billion kept our middle and small business. Take a walk around the streets of Yerevan, how many kiosks and small shops have been closed, there is no buyer.”

Garo Paylan reacts to Armenian Genocide remarks by Erdogan’s spokesperson

Panorama, Armenia
Feb 8 2019

Turkish-Armenian MP Garo Paylan, representing the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), took to Twitter to respond to remarks about the Armenia Genocide made by Turkish President Erdoghan’s spokesperson.

Turkey on Wednesday hit out at French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement that France would make April 24 a national day of commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.

"We condemn and reject attempts by Macron, who is afflicted by political problems in his own country, to try and save the day by turning historical events into a political matter," Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said in a statement after the French leader's announcement on Tuesday.

In a tweet on Thursday Paylan questioned Ibrahim Kalin’s statement, saying: “If the Armenian Genocide is a lie, why the Turkish President has been sending condolence messages to the Armenian community five years in a row on every April 24”

“Turkey is yet to face and name the tragedy of the Armenian people displaced and slaughtered by the decision of the state. What happened should concern first the president and the Speaker of Turkish parliament. They should face and call the tragedy with a proper name as we have been waiting for justice for104 years,” Paylan wrote in a separate post.

To remind, speaking to the Armenian community at a dinner in Paris, Macron said: "France is, first and foremost, the country that knows how to look history in the face, which was among the first to denounce the killing of the Armenian people, which in 1915 named genocide for what it was, which in 2001 after a long struggle recognized it in law."

France "will in the next weeks make April 24 a national day of commemoration of the Armenian genocide," he added.

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS. The Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) has initiated and is implementing for already several years the introduction of “Armath” engineering laboratories in the schools of Armenia and Artsakh. As of January, 2016, 252 engineering laboratories-groups, including nearly 6.300 children, are operating across Armenia. The “Armath” laboratories enable the students to master principles with mathematics and exact sciences, engineering, programming and robotics basics, project and manage UAVs.

UATE Executive Director Karen Vardanyan told Armenpress that this program is unprecedented. It launched in 2014 and gained a broad international recognition within a short period of time. “Armath” received awards at WITSA Global Excellence Award as a Sustainable Development program. A number of countries (India, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Namibia, Mongolia and Spain) are negotiating with the UATE to introduce the Armath laboratories in their schools.

“”Armath” has become an Armenian high-technology educational brand which acquires great recognition all over the world. Today there is an international competition not only between the universities, specialists, but also schools. Armenia has acquired major experience in teaching engineering subjects at schools, and this is the main knowledge we are going to export as Armenia’s educational brand”, he said.

Karen Vardanyan noted that the “Armath” laboratories have proved their effectiveness in a short period of time. He presented the results of the analysis by the Grant Thornton according to which the net present cost of one group is 254 million drams.

“The internal rate of the profitability of one group is estimated 88%. In case of introduction in Armenia’s 1200 schools, the net present cost of all groups will comprise 298 million drams. Taking into account the direct effect of the operating groups only, the impact of the economic animator can be 2.3 times more. The research showed that 84% of the “Armath” graduates have been admitted to the university. 39% of them is also working in line with the study, 4% are only working. 45% of those employed are engaged in the programming sector, 12% have set up a startup, 29% are involved in other activities of IT sphere. The rest carry out engineering and technical works. 37% of the students is a potential employee of the IT sector after graduation”, he said.

The UATE, based on the Grant Thornton’s research, has developed a business plan which has calculated what economic impact the introduction of “Armath” in all, 1250 schools will have on the Republic, how much tax entries will be ensure, in how many years the “Armath” will bring the invested money back and etc.

“Summing up all this it becomes clear that the program will bring the money invested for it back within three years. The UATE calculations have also been checked by the Central Bank’s specialists who expressed their satisfaction and stated that there is even less calculation for “Armath’s” impact on the country’s GDP growth”, Karen Vardanyan said.

The UATE has applied to the government with the request to issue 5-6-year-old “Armath” securities worth 15 billion which will bring over 60 billion AMD benefit to the state.

“By this we are showing that education is the most profitable sector, and by this program we not only raise the level of education of the children, but also bring addition benefit to the state by ensuring Armenia’s international competitiveness. We hope that by the introduction of this program we will be able to restore the technological level and reputation Armenia had during the Soviet Union within 5-6 years and view Armenia as one of the most leading countries on the technology map”, Karen Vardanyan said.

Azerbaijani Press: Former co-chair: Preparation of populations for compromise is missing ingredient in Karabakh peace process

AzerNews, Azerbaijan
Jan 18 2019

By  Trend

The preparation of populations to embrace any compromise solution has long been the missing ingredient in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, Former US Minsk Group Co-Chair Carey Cavanaugh wrote on Twitter, Trend reports.

He was commenting on the recent statement issued following the meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers with participation of OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in Paris on January 16.

Thomas de Waal, a UK political analyst, senior fellow with Carnegie Europe, specializing in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region has assessed the statement very positive.

“Suddenly the mood has changed on the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. Very positive statement. Now time to get down to work, involve more stakeholders, start debate on difficult issues in society,” he wrote on Twitter.

The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group (Igor Popov of the Russian Federation, Stéphane Visconti of France and Andrew Schofer of the United States of America) hosted consultations between Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and Acting Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on 16 January in Paris.

The ministers discussed a wide range of issues related to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and agreed upon the necessity of taking concrete measures to prepare the populations for peace.

The Co-Chairs plan to meet the leaders of the two countries in the near future.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.

Gazprom threatens to reduce volume of investments in Armenia

Russian “Kommersant” periodicaltouched upon the rise in gas tariff for Gazprom Armenia.

“Kommersant” writes that in 2018, after the revolution happened in spring, opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan became prime minister, and after which Yerevan’s official relations with the Russian state structures have become complicated. In July of the previous year, the State Revenue Committee has registered tax violations in a number of gas companies, including Gazprom Armenia and its subsidiary, Avtogaz, but there is an agreement between the parties that the gas price will increase, but the tariffs for the domestic market of Armenia will not change.
