The contribution is in honor of 25th Anniversary of Catholicos Aram I’s Enthronement

To mark the 25th anniversary of His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia’s enthronement, it was announced that long-time benefactors Mr. & Mrs. Alecco and Annie Bezikian will allocate $1 million assistance to needy Armenian families in Lebanon, whose lives have been ravaged by the economic crisis facing the country, coupled with the coronavirus pandemic.

Expressing its immense gratitude, the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia said that during the past two months, the Bezikians have provided 350 million Lebanese pounds assistance for the same purpose.

The project, which enjoys the blessing and backing of the Catholicos, will be carried out by the Prelacy of Lebanon, which has appointed a special committee to oversee the distribution.

The project will be implemented over a five-month period from July to November. Every month, 3,000 families will benefit from the program. In the coming days, the Prelacy will provide the necessary information to the community.

“The honorable Mr. & Mrs. Alecco and Annie Bezikian have been faithful friends of the Holy See and devout benefactors,” said the Executive Board of the Great House of Cilicia Catholicosate.

“Thus, the Bezikians’ significant contributions to the Antelias Monastery, the St. Mary’s Monastery in Bikfaya, the “Birds’ Nest” orphanage, as well as their assitance toward Armenia, the Lebanese Armenian community and other efforts in support of the Armenian Cause are a testament to their spirit of generosity, their deep belief and unwavering commitment,” added the Catholicosate Executive Board.

Regional governor: Prosperous Armenia Party doesn't have public support and rating for change of power

I am very skeptical about the Prosperous Armenia Party’s calls for consolidation of the political opposition because I don’t believe the political party has the support of the public and the rating required for change of power. This is what Governor of Kotayk Province Romanos Petrosyan told reporters in parliament today.

“In Armenia, the people are the ones who will demand or not demand change of power. There can be calls for and attempts of change of power, and, of course, after the state of emergency, but I am very skeptical about that. There is a reason for the political party’s motivation. The Armenian government has declared that there is no oligarchy in Armenia. Today, oligarchs don’t have an impact on governance. When oligarchs are deprived of the opportunity to have an impact on public administration and have to pay taxes, they can feel discomfort and try to regain power.

Prosperous Armenia Party has no impact on public administration and can only have some impact through legislation that may serve a given businessman’s business interests,” the regional governor said.

Obtained records ‘show Azerbaijan foreign minister’s son bought lavish
Trump Place apartments in Manhattan’

By bne IntelIiNews

New York Tax Department records obtained by the Washington
correspondent of Azerbaijani news service TURAN information agency
reportedly show that in the summer of 2015, Emin Mammadyarov, eldest
son of Azerbaijan’s foreign minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, purchased two
apartments in Manhattan’s formerly named Trump Place buildings, paying
slightly over $4.2mn in total in all-cash deals.

TURAN reported on May 26: “Following a recent social media discussion
on Mammadyarov family's wealth and their Manhattan apartments, which
was first broke by journalist Javansir Hasanli, TURAN's U.S.
correspondent has reached out to New York authorities for more details
regarding the deeds of the 31-year-old son of the minister.

“According to official records, during the months of June-July [in
2015] Emin Mammadyarov purchased two apartment units (PH2K and PH3K)
at Manhattan's former Trump Place building located at 120 Riverside
Blvd.”

Built in 2004 by the Trump Organization, the 21-storey building has en
suite amenities including an indoor pool, fitness centre, sauna and
jacuzzi and a private landscaped roof deck which overlooks the Hudson
River.

Last year, the name “Trump Place” came down from the building’s facade
after the condominium owners voted to have the name removed, citing
Donald Trump's offensive behaviour in the 2016 US presidential
election campaign.

TURAN also reported: “It is not clear how young Mammadyarov could pay
huge sums for luxury units in Manhattan. TURAN's correspondent has
tried to reach out to him for comment via phone and social media but
never heard back.”

Elmar Mammadyarov served at the Azerbaijani mission at the UN in New
York in the early 1990s. He has been Azerbaijan’s top diplomat since
2004.
