`The donation agreement has been signed without taking into account the fact
of existence of the third party’, said Melanya Aroustamyan, advocate of the
company `A.H.A. Invest’, alias café `Luna’. The company rented the area next
to the then-building of the National Science Academy Language Institute for

The stockholders of the company are citizens of the USA. The company has
already applied to the Court of Appeal. «If it does not help, we will apply
to the Human Rights International Court and all the religious organizations

GEORGIAN PROSECUTOR GENERAL ASSURES THAT DEPARTMENT HEADED BY HIM TO
BE STRICT IN CASE OF MANIFESTATION OF VANDALISM TO ARMENIAN MONUMENTS

YEREVAN, MAY 17, NOYAN TAPAN. During the five months of the current
year the Armenian law-enforcement bodies got 30 investigation
assignments from Georgia concerning carrying out investigation in the
territory of Armenia and 7 such assignments were sent to Georgian
colleagues from Armenia. This was mentioned at the May 17 joint
press conference of Zurab Adeishvili, Georgian Prosecutor General,
and Aghvan Hovsepian, RA Prosecutor General. According to A.Hovsepian,
Armenian investigators paid working visits to Georgia on the occasion
on different criminal cases, especially lately, on cases of false
excise stamps, and always met manifestation of good will by Georgian
law-enforcement bodies in the process of investigation and disclosure
of these crimes. During 5 months the Armenian party got 2 criminal
cases for investigation in Armenia and one case was sent to Georgia:
all of the 3 cases concerned cattle theft. The law-enforcement bodies
of both countries have serious difficulties in investigation of
cases connected with theft of cars: they are instituted in Armenia as
finally it’s found out in Armenia that cars brought through Georgia
and sold in Armenia were stolen. the investigation of criminal cases
mainly shows that citizens of South Ossetia are engaged in sale and
resale of stolen cars. Answering the question of one of journalists,
Zurab Adeishvili said that after the “rose revolution” struggle
against corruption became active in Georgia, 15 of former Ministers,
12 judges, 11 prosecutors were arrested on criminal cases instituted
against them and 90 mln drams was returned to the state Treasury. What
measures does Georgian Prosecutor’s Office undertake for calling to
account persons guilty of vandalism to Armenian monuments? Answering
this question, Z.Adeishvili said: “We will respond to such facts if
there are such. One criminal case was instituted earlier and we will
be consistent in this issue.”

National Geographic: Turks are nomads from Middle Asia

YEREVAN (YERKIR) – Spencer Wills of the National Geographic Society
has said that the Turkish gene in Turkey is few, Armenpress reported.

Wills has noted that the Turkish gene that has come to Anatolia from
Middle Asia with Seljuks has not widely spread.Commenting on this
statement, the Turkish newspaper Milliyet has mentioned it did not
come as a surprise: most of the Turkish scientists knew that.

Genetically, Turks are very much like the Balkan nations, Armenians,
Arabs but they also have unique structures, a Turkish scholar has
told the newspaper.

Hakan Shatroghlu, an Ankara University professor, has added that
diversity of the Turkish people is natural because Turks, who were
nomads, have migrated from Middle Asia and have assimilated many
other ethnicities maintaining the language and the culture.

Pernod Ricard puts $1.7 mln into re-branding Ararat cognac

Pernod Ricard puts $1.7 mln into re-branding Ararat cognac

MOSCOW. May 18 (Interfax) – France’s Pernod Ricard, which owns the
Yerevan Cognac Plant in Armenia, has invested more than $1.7 million
in the re-branding of ‘Ararat’ cognacs, the plant’s commercial director
announced at a Wednesday press conference in Moscow.

The re-branding has allowed the observance of “a balance between
traditional Armenian cognacs and packaging, which should meet the
requirements of the modern consumer,” he said. “We will be changing
packaging in the future depending on the requirements of the market,”
he said.

The re-launch of the Ararat brand will not be reflected in cognac
prices, except for products in the ‘super premium’ class like
‘Prazdnichny’ and ‘Nairi,’ he said.

Pernod Ricard Russia’s marketing director said at the press conference
that the re-branding was necessitated by the fact that many producers
have appeared on the market in recent years that have started to turn
out product in similar-appearing packaging. “The aim of this work was
confirming our leadership role on the cognac market, and emphasizing
the differences from [our] competitors,” he said.
