Ali Hasanov A senior Azerbaijani official has accused the USA of
supporting Armenia and backed Turkey’s position on Karabakh.

Ali Hasanov, head of the public policy department at the presidential
administration, criticized the US position to journalists on Thursday

‘The United States often takes a unilateral position supporting
Armenia. We urge the United States to take a neutral position,’
Hasanov said.

He referred to the USA’s role as one of three countries co-chairing
the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Minsk Group
which is mediating a settlement to the Karabakh conflict.

‘We are not satisfied with US activity within the framework of the
OSCE Minsk Group. We say this openly. Azerbaijan has repeatedly raised
the issue of the violation of its rights in Nagorno-Karabakh and its
territorial integrity. However, unfortunately, some US circles and
institutions, influenced by the Armenian lobby, often lose neutrality
and provide open support to Armenia,’ Hasanov said.

He said that recent US actions aimed to help Armenia economically. ‘At
the same time, no one takes into account the occupying policy of
Armenia in the region and does not try to persuade it to give up
this policy. US efforts are aimed at getting Armenia out of the tough
economic situation, and at the same time Washington puts pressure on
neighbouring countries, including Turkey, demanding the creation of
political and economic ties with Armenia,’ he said.

According to Hasanov, this does not comply with the United States’
mission as an OSCE Minsk Group co-chair. ‘If the United States wants
peace in the region, the resolution of the conflict, an improvement
in the socioeconomic situation in Armenia and its participation in
transnational projects, they should make Yerevan give up its policy
of occupation,’ he said.

In contrast, Hasanov expressed satisfaction with Turkey’s position on
Karabakh. He said the Turkish leadership had repeatedly stated and
continued to insist that unless Armenia withdrew from the occupied
lands and the Karabakh issue was settled, there would be no close
cooperation between Yerevan and Ankara and the border between Armenia
and Turkey would not be opened.

‘We are fully satisfied with Turkey’s stance on the Karabakh issue.

The diplomatic, economic, social and cultural relations within the
framework of the slogan "One nation-two states" are unique in the
world and we are not going to spoil them at anyone’s instruction.’

‘Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister
Ahmet Davutoglu indicated at meetings in Washington that the creation
of normal socioeconomic relations between Turkey and Armenia was not
possible until the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, diplomatic
breakthroughs on the Azerbaijani-Armenian front and the withdrawal
of Armenia’s occupying forces from the occupied lands,’ Hasanov said.

‘Therefore, we fully support Ankara’s policy on this issue,’ he said.

Hasanov’s remarks came a day after Azerbaijani President Ilham
Aliyev accused the international community of indifference towards
the Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani land.

‘Certainly, when our interests are ignored, the occupation of our lands
is not taken into account and attempts are made to help the occupying
country get out of its tough economic state, the Azerbaijani community
cannot accept this’, Aliyev told an expanded session of the Cabinet
of Ministers on Wednesday.

On Tuesday US President Barack Obama met Turkish Prime Minister Recep
Tayyip Erdogan in Washington. According to Turkish diplomatic sources,
Obama promised Erdogan to spare no effort for the resolution of the
Karabakh conflict, but no mention of this was made in the official
White House report of the meeting.

RA NA MEDAL OF HONOUR TO THE FORMER SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVAKIA PAVOL HRUOVSII

National Assembly of RA
April 16 2010
Armenia

RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan on April 15 awarded
the Medal of Honour of RA National Assembly the member of the Foreign
Affairs Committee of the National Council of the Republic of Slovakia,
former Speaker of the National Council of the Republic of Slovakia
Pavol Hrušovský for supporting the process of the adoption and
establishment of the Resolution on the recognition of the 1915
Armenian Genocide by the National Council of the Republic of Slovakia
on November 30, 2004.

Handing over the higher award the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said:

"Dear colleagues, dear Mr. Hrušovský,

I am very glad to host you in the Armenian Parliament as decisive
political figure and a man of civil distinct position.

In 2004 the Parliament of Slovakia adopted a Resolution condemning
the 1915 Armenian Genocide, which was perpetrated in Ottoman Turkey,
and your contribution in it is weighty as now former Speaker of the
Slovak Parliament and a deserved representative of the Slovak people.

The Armenian Genocide is not only a crime against a whole nation,
but also a crime against a whole humanity. And the duty of the whole
civilized world and community to give just and deserved assessment to
what happened. Though numerous states and structures accepted the crime
perpetrated towards the Armenians in 1915 as Genocide and condemn it,
however, the author of the Genocide has no courage to repent, I am
sure but the time is also close because in the world the list of the
countries, which are able to look straight at the truth, gradually
increase, the political figures, who can stand above political and
other interests and adopt a dignified position towards the fact of
the Armenian Genocide. In the name of you dear Mr.

Hrušovský, we know a man, who could assess the history and the
reality with dignity and fairly. The step that you have taken and
as its result the Resolution adopted by the Slovak Parliament is a
weighty contribution to the international community, one more step
to approach to the truth, to prevent the genocides in the world,
in the process of awaking conscience in accepting its own crime in
the perpetrated Genocide. We are grateful for revealing the truth
and restoring the historical justice on the hard path of your brave
and exemplary activities."

Expressing his gratitude for being assessed and being awarded the
Medal of Honour the former Speaker of the National Council of the
Republic of Slovakia Pavol Hrušovský said in particular: "Everybody
should consider the Genocide perpetrated against Armenians a crime
against the whole humanity. We demand that those who did it, have
seriousness and percept what they have done with the whole depth of
disaster. I am proud that the Parliament of Slovakia had the courage
and adopted the Genocide as a fact. And moreover that we should be
an example for all countries, which still don’t have that courage."

Classifying the adoption of the Resolution of the Armenian Genocide
by the Slovak Parliament as a political assessment to the perpetrated
genocide Pavol Hrušovský ensured that he accepts the received award
a new "burden" for the fulfillment of the new obligations, which the
political figures of his country must undertake on them for the sake
of the solution of the Armenian issues and problems.

The NA Vice Speakers Arevik Petrosyan and Samvel Nikoyan, deputies,
the NA Chief of Staff Gegham Gharibjanyan attended the award giving
ceremony.

The consequences of the Genocide should be abolished based on the
abilities of Armenia, thinks Turkologist Hakob Chaqryan.

"Before applying to Turkey with demands the Armenian authorities
should remember about the political, economic and military abilities
of Armenia. They should say "Nobody will give"," the Turkologist said
today on the press conference mentioning that though the agreement
of Sevr was signed not a single land was given to Armenia.

"How much rational is to bring forward the demands at present, when
the whole world hasn’t recognized the Armenian Genocide. In that
case the countries which are ready to recognize will think that will
have bigger problems with Turkey and will refuse the recognition,"
the political scientist said.

According to the speaker it’s not suitable to speak about the demands
also before the normalization of the NKR problem.

"We can’t speak about demands till the NKR conflict settlement will
not enter into its normal procession. It will be of no use," Hakob
Chaqryan mentioned.

Armenian Sisters Academy, Radnor, PA, athletes excel beyond the track

Rain or shine, gym teacher Mrs. Gibbone – better known as Mrs. G –
works to develop first through eighth grade students into wing-footed
athletes. Assisted by seasoned seventh and eighth grade students leading
the team in stretches, Mrs. G teaches not only running skills, but life
skills, as well. Her mission is fostering good sportsmanship and
encouraging students to achieve their personal best while contributing
towards a team. `My goal is to teach them well and help them to focus
on making healthy choices; physically, socially, mentally, spiritually,
and emotionally so that as they grow and leave the Armenian Sisters they
will have all of the fundamental skills needed to be competitive and
successful. This in turn is the true foundation for a good, successful
life carrying on the values instilled at the Armenian Sisters
Academy,’ comments Mrs. G.

ASA is part of the Suburban Development League which promotes ideals
similar to those of the Academy – creating positive self worth through
effort, learning the value of working as a team and developing each
individual’s strengths and talents. Practices are held Tuesdays and
Thursdays, rain or shine, indoors or out. As our athletes know, running
up and down three stories of steps qualifies for training! Track meets
are held every Saturday in May at Lower Merion High School.

How do students feel about this extra-curricular activity? Second grade
student Shant Sarkahian says "I love to run the relays. Mrs. G taught me
how to pass and get the baton." "My favorite race is the 100 meter dash,
I like the butterfly stretch and Mrs. G is an excellent track teacher,"
comments classmate Willam Cosgrove. Third grade girls Angelica
Aghababyan and Anoush Kojouri simply like to run with their friends.
Christina Kaladjian (6th grade) enjoys the long jump while track veteran
George Ambarstsoumian (7th grade) says he’s definitely stronger by the
end of the season.

Mrs. G. feeds off this energy. `What I love about ASA Track is our
perpetual enthusiasm. Here we are, this little group of athletes with a
driveway for a track, practicing two days a week, going up against these
goliath track clubs with mammoth funds. And it’s OK, there’s no
pressure; we know who we are and where we came from, and we stay strong
and finish hard. That’s what matters,’ she says. The most important
requirement for track? A great attitude! Or as Mrs. G says, there is no
`I’ in team.

Erdogan : La Turquie Ne Reconnaitra Jamais Le Genocide

ERDOGAN : LA TURQUIE NE RECONNAITRA JAMAIS LE GENOCIDE

TURQUIE -USA

President Ronald Reagan l’a lui bien prononce. Mais il est vrai que
la communication du premier ministre turc est si bien orchestree qu’a
cette seule declaration le public croira cette assertion.

Le chef du gouvernement turc sera recu aujourd’hui par Barak Obama.

FAAE President Urges Obama To Recognize The Armenian Genocide

FAAE PRESIDENT URGES OBAMA TO RECOGNIZE THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

President of the Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe Ashot
Grigorian addressed a letter to US President Barack Obama., urging
him to recognize the Armenian Genocide. The letter reads:

"Dear Mr. President,

On behalf of the Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe I would
like to convey our utmost appreciation for your using the words ‘Mets
Yeghern’ on April 24th last year. Whilst that was a step forward,
we turn to you again this year with the plea to use the international
term ‘Genocide’ in your speech and allow the US Congress to pass the
Resolution 252 adopted by the House Foreign Affairs Committee earlier
this year.

Mr. President, I appeal to you with the request that you honor
the worldwide Armenian Diaspora’s sufferings related to Turkey’s
ignorance of the Armenian Genocide, its falsification of justice,
its sinning against the truth and that you recognize the Armenian
Genocide as a fact.

Recognition of the Armenian Genocide will make Turkey honor the
worldwide international opinion and establish good relations with its
important neighbour, Armenia. Please be assured that this is the most
realistic and just path to solving the Armenian-Turkish relationship.

Please accept, Mr. President, the assurances of my highest
consideration."

Armenia Politician Waits For Nothing Positive From The Washington Me

ARMENIA POLITICIAN WAITS FOR NOTHING POSITIVE FROM THE WASHINGTON MEETINGS OF THE ARMENIAN PRESIDENT

Arminfo. I don’t think that the meetings between President of
Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Barack Obama or Erdogan in Washington can
bring any positive for us movements in the negotiating process on
normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations, the leader of the
Armenian Ramkavar-Azatakan party Harutyun Arakelyan said at today’s
press-conference.

‘It is mo secret to anybody that Washington and Ankara acting
in full accord today, including in the matter of Armenian-Turkish
rapprochement. The recent statement by US Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton may be taken as an example, that the problem of the Armenian
genocide should be settled by the commission of historians’, –
he said. He also added that many American corporations on weapon
production are conducting an active lobby activity in the American
Congress directed against discussion of the resolution on the
Armenian genocide. He thinks one must not trust in the ’emotional
burst of activity’ of western politicians which say about justice,
human rights, as global economical interests is the key factor.
