Turning colorful bus into beehive: Resident of Armenia’s Goris town present his invention

YEREVAN, JUNE 15, ARMENPRESS. Karlen Chagharyan, 72, a resident of Armenia’s Goris town, is engaged in beekeeping for more than 30 years. He continues the work of his father who also has been engaged in beekeeping for many years. Recently the Goris town resident decided to bring something new in his work, making the process more effective. He colored his own bus and turned it into a beehive.

“In fact, this idea is for making my work easier and raising its effectiveness. After turning the first bus into a beehive I understood how much it was effective. Previously, when I was placing the beehives in fields, some times later I had to transport them to another place which required money, etc. Now these problems do not exist anymore. I take the beehives which are located in the bus to another place very easily. In order to have a good honey, transporting beehives from time to time is very important”, he told Armenpress, adding that he already has the second bus which again turned into a beehive.

Karlen Chagharyan is one of the beekeepers in Goris having the most beehives. Currently he has 120 beehives, some of which are placed in the buses. He decided to increase the number of bus-beehives as he has seen the effectiveness of this idea. He has already acquired the third bus which is at the stage of turning into a beehive.

“The advantage of having a bus-beehive is obvious. The temperature in the bus is stable, it is isolated, equipped and conditions have been created. The work with bees has become easier, neither wind, air temperature nor rain affect it. In the past I had to spend 200-300,000 AMD, engage 15-20 workers to transport the beehives, but now I take them wherever I want without making additional spending”, he said.

Chagharyan said such an idea has never been implemented in Goris. He was the first to make that invention. He says he has set a task to have a high-quality honey and is satisfied with the consumption as he has concrete clients.

“In any case, the market, the sale of honey are very important for beekeepers. Today the market is small and also has honey not in so much high-quality, and our citizens usually do not differentiate what is good honey and what not”, he said, urging to buy high-quality honey, especially when the price difference is little.

Sports: Russian Football Union to exempt Armenian footballers from ‘legionnaires’ quota

Panorama, Armenia
June 9 2020

The Executive Board of the Russian Football Union (RFU) will exclude footballers from Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from the list of foreign athletes, often called as the legionnaires, allowed to play for Russia’s football clubs. As sports.ru reports, the decision will be adopted during RFU Board meeting on Tuesday.

The decision is explained by the fact that Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus are EAEU member states and their citizens are not considered legionnaires in the Russian Premier League. Earlier, a similar decision was adopted with regard to football players from Belarus.

To note, the Russian Premier League (RPL) is currently exploiting the ‘6+5’ quota, which means that not more than six foreign players could be simultaneously playing for one club on the field during the match time.

Turkish press: Turkey condemns Czech Parliament resolution on 1915 events

Turkey on Thursday condemned a resolution adopted on May 20 by the senate of Czechia's Parliament regarding the 1915 events.

"The fact that the decision was taken in an environment with few members in the senate at a time when the whole world was struggling with the coronavirus pandemic reveals the insidious mentality behind it," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said, "It is not possible to impose more than a historical discussion on the events of 1915, as determined by Articles 173 and 231 of the 2015 judgment of the European Court of Human Rights, which was repeated by a second decision in 2017."

"Attempts to define a historical issue in the interests of politics and certain groups are unacceptable," it said.

"We call on those who want to present a one-sided view of history to consider President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's letter that expresses an understanding of sharing the common grief sent to Turkey's Armenian Patriarch on the occasion of April 24.

"We invite the Czech Parliament to respect the provisions of the Lausanne Peace Treaty, international court decisions and the historical and current sources of international law," it said.

It noted that Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek said the decision does not reflect the attitude of the Czech government.

Turkey objects to presenting the 1915 incidents as "genocide," rather calling them a tragedy in which both Turks and Armenians suffered casualties in the heat of World War I.

Turkey's position on the events of 1915 is that the deaths of Armenians in eastern Anatolia took place when some sided with the invading Russians and revolted against Ottoman forces. A subsequent relocation of Armenians resulted in numerous casualties.

Ankara has repeatedly proposed the creation of a joint commission of historians from Turkey and Armenia as well as international experts to examine the issue.

Asbarez: Yerevan Says Baku Undermines Peace

Armenia’s foreign ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan

Armenia’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday said the Armenia will continue to protect the rights of the people of Artsakh to self-determination, adding that through its threats and military actions, Baku is undermining any semblance of peace.

The announcement was in response to a statement issued by Azerbaijan’s foreign ministry, which threatened military action and accused Armenia of advancing an “annexation” policy citing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s attendance at Thursday’s inauguration of Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan.

“It’s worth mentioning that the threats of war or military posturing communicated either through statements or large-scale military exercises in violation of international commitments, represent traditional components of Azerbaijan’s destructive stance, which has no impact either on the position of the Armenian sides in the Nagorno Karabakh issue or on the ongoing democratic processes in Artsakh,” said Armenia’s foreign ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan.

“Nevertheless, they [Azerbaijan] definitely undermine the establishment of an environment conducive to peace, which is necessary for the consideration of substantive issues. Armenia is committed to an exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship,” added Naghdalyan.

Once again congratulating the people of Artsakh on forming a government through democratic processes, we would like to reiterate that the Republic of Armenia will continue to closely cooperate with the new authorities, which represent the people of Artsakh, in the peace process, and in this context we will consistently protect the exercise of the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination without any constraints,” explained the foreign ministry spokesperson.
