YEREVAN. – Past (Fact) newspaper of Armenia found out that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has instructed the relevant divisions of his staff to report to him, separately, the information on the negative processes taking place in Russia, the actions against its central government, and on the rating of Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the newspaper.

“Separate references on the anti-government demonstrations, the dynamics of protests [in Russia] are especially highlighted.

“It is hard to say what exactly such emphasized attention is linked to. However, our sources claim that some in the [Armenian] authorities were enthusiastic about the recent social survey data in connection with Putin’s rating,” Past wrote.

‘Armenia and Artsakh Don’t Want War, But No One Can Threaten Us,’ Says Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the National Assembly on June 19

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday said that neither Armenia nor Artsakh want war, but warned that “no one can threaten the Republic of Armenia and Republic of Artsakh with war.”

Pashinyan was speaking at a joint cabined parliament session, during which he said that Azerbaijan continued to attempt to pull the resolution of the Karabakh conflict out of the constructive atmosphere of negotiations.

”I have always said that we should not forget that the war is not over and it can break out at any moment and escalations of the situation can happen any moment. It’s obvious for me that Azerbaijan simply wants to use the tool which it used for a long time—I mean making efforts to pull the [conflict] resolution issue from the constructive atmosphere of negotiations. Azerbaijan has been using this tool for a long time and Armenia has had to resist it, including by raising the combat readiness of the Armed Forces,” said Pashinyan highlighting the necessity of installing investigative mechanisms for ceasefire violations.

There is no meeting during which the issue of having Artsakh return to the negotiating table is not discussed, Pashinyan said in response to a question from Aram Abovyan, a member of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party.

Pashinyan also told lawmakers that the Karabakh talks were continuing and pointed to the upcoming meeting on Thursday between Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers in Washington, saying that “all the issues impeding the process of negotiations will be raised there.”

“Armenia and Karabakh are capable of protecting their interests in the diplomatic arena and, if necessary, on the border. We have proved this and will continue to prove it,” said Pashinyan who added that Armenia and Azerbaijan have discussed who has violated the ceasefire regime and how and that Armenia has facts.

The first-ever Armenian-Turkish TV channel in Turkey began broadcasting after two years of preparation work and efforts to establish the channel.

Luys TV, which means "light" in Armenian, was established by journalist Aram Kuran and has began airing with a team of 21 employees.

Kuran, editor in chief of the new channel told Anadolu Agency that they went through many arduous ways during the establishment process of the channel but they received great support, especially from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

One of the early high-profile guests of the channel was former Parliament Speaker, Prime Minister and Transport Minister Binali Yıldırım, who appeared on the channel on March 3 for a broadcast ahead of the March 31 local elections, in which he ran for Istanbul mayor as the candidate of the People's Alliance formed by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

The channel initially started broadcasting on Jan. 6, 2019 by publishing Christmas rituals online, while it broadcasts weekly news now in Western Armenian — one of the two branches of the modern Armenian language — for the first time in Turkey every Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. There is also live broadcast twice a week.

"Once we started broadcasting, we received amazing feedback from the audience. This has doubled our excitement," said Kuran, adding that when they examined the ratings, they saw he need for such a channel.

"That's why I'm so happy. I thank my team and my country. I would especially like to thank our Armenian citizens who watch us abroad. Especially those who watch our broadcasts from abroad are very happy," Kuran said.

The channels programs, which range from shows in which guests discuss the most important issues of the Armenian community to cultural ones, and 70 percent of the programs specifically prepared for children are in Armenian and 30 percent in Turkish.

Kuran said that they are currently broadcasting news provided by national channels and agencies such as Anadolu Agency by translating them into Armenian, adding that they are planning to publish news on a daily basis in the near future.

He also thanked Turkish public broadcaster the TRT for its support as it provided the channel with documentaries about minorities from its own archives.

Publishing and broadcasting is a family business for Kuran, whose father was among the first masters in Turkey that made color printing. Kuran himself worked as a photojournalist and columnist before launching the Luys newspaper.

Apart from Luys, Istanbul houses other Armenian minority newspapers, such as the 110-year-old Jamanak, the bilingual Agos, the Marmara and the Paros magazine, as well as a publishing house called "Aras", which mainly prints Armenian literature and works on Armenian culture.

No Progress in Karabakh Talks Without Artsakh’s ‘Decisive Voice’

Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan briefed parliament on June 6

Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan told Parliament on Thursday that that without Artsakh’s “decisive voice” there will be no progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution process, adding that returning Stepanakert to the negotiations table is a matter of principle.

Mnatsakanyan also said that the cooperation between the governments of Armenia and Artsakh has been and remains principled and effective.

“We are always working with the Artsakh government. Before or after each negotiation we always work with Artsakh’s leadership. I personally have very close cooperation with my colleague [Artsakh Foreign Minister] Masis Mayilyan and also with [Artsakh] President Bako Sahakian, as does Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan,” said Mnatsakanyan.

“We have a clear format of closely working together, which reflects the political line that is drawn by our government and refers to Artsakh’s participation in the negotiations process. The issue of Artsakh’s participation is a difficult, but principled, and important,” explained Mnatsakanyan.

“The issue concerns Artsakh, which is an entity, and without Artsakh’s decisive voice we will not have productive progress. Our cooperation with Artsakh’s authorities has been and remains very principled and productive,” Mnatsakanyan said.

Asked about the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ view regarding the suggestion to include Artsakh itself in Karabakh talks, Mnatsakanyan saud the “co-chairs accept what will be acceptable for the parties. We don’t have a debate over this issue with the co-chairs, the debate is with Azerbaijan.”

Mnatsakanyan also said that a date for an upcoming meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov will be announced soon, adding that there were no immediate plans for a meeting between Pashinyan and Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev.

Asbarez: Belgian Lawmakers Call for Artsakh’s Participation in Peace Talks

The “We are Our Mountains” monument in Artsakh

A group of Belgian lawmakers called for Artsakh’s participation in the Karabakh peace talks. In a statement issued Sunday on the 25th anniversary of the Karabakh cease fire, the group of mainly French-speaking legislators from Belgium, who are part of the Artskah Friendship Group of the Flemish parliament, also lamented at the fact that there has not been any tangible progress in the talks.

“The Agreement of May 12, 1992 put an end to the bloody war unleashed against the people of Artsakh who struggled to live free and in dignity in their ancestral homeland. The fragile peace established by the Agreement prevented further human losses and laid the foundations for peace talks aimed at finding a just and lasting solution to the conflict,” said the statement, which was distributed by the Arstsakh Foreign Ministry.

At the same time, the lawmakers expressed regret that no tangible progress has been achieved toward adopting a comprehensive agreement on establishing lasting peace over the last 25 years, “as evidenced by the resumption of the large-scale hostilities unleashed against Artsakh by Azerbaijan in April 2016.”

“We are convinced that a genuine peace process that bears fruits requires a direct dialogue with the people of Artsakh and the full-fledged participation of the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities – one of the signatories of the Ceasefire Agreement, in the negotiation process,” said the statement, in which the lawmakers stress that the conflict must be resolved peacefully.

“There is no alternative to a peaceful solution to the conflict. Curbing bellicose rhetoric, hate-speech and putting in place confidence-building, such as OSCE investigative mechanism to prevent ceasefire violations, which the Armenian side has accepted, and promoting people-to-people contacts are an essential prerequisite,” added the statement.

Reports: Saudi Arabia to sponsor Congress resolution recognizing Armenian Genocide

The Saudi ambassador to the U.S., Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud agreed to financially sponsor  the resolution calling for official recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Adam Schiff met the Saudi ambassador to the US during a party at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington on Friday.

Furthermore, in this meeting, Sen. Schiff’s Resolution to Congress to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923 was introduced and on the proposal of Sen. Schiff, the Saudi ambassador to US agreed to financially sponsor the Resolution, a statement on Schiff's official website says.

Princess Bandar said that "Saudi Arabia was also under severe oppression during the Ottoman Empire, and no pleasant recollection has been left in our history during the Ottoman era. The Saudi government policy has always been and continues to be insisting on the protection of human rights. Inquiry about historical events is every nation’s right and no one should worry when the truth comes out. Turkey is the main accused of the Armenian Genocide and cannot claim concern about human and civil rights protection until the truth comes out.”

The Saudi ambassador also promised Mr. Schiff that she will make benefit of the opportunities and lobbying among the Congress members to pass the Resolution.

"The policies of Turkey in recent years have always been a source of concern for Riyadh, and we believe that Erdogan's Pan-Othmanism and the AKP will be in conflict with the interests of Islamic countries, particularly the Arab nations," Ms. Ambassador said.

At the end, she also considered US decision for halting F-35 sales to Turkey as a great move, which would lead to détente in the region.

Turkish gov’t warns Armenia: Yerevan will not be able to normalize relations with Ankara, making claims on the Armenian Genocide

Arminfo, Armenia
Marianna Mkrtchyan

ArmInfo. The Turkish government continues to insist that there was no Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

Thus, on the eve of the 104th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide,  the Turkish government made another statement, which is quoted by  Azerbaijani Trend.

Thus, the Turkish executive authority publicly stated that allegedly  they say Armenia is "afraid" to open its archives in 1915, because  after that the whole world will receive evidence that the events of  1915 are not genocide, but "extermination and genocide of the Muslim  population in the Ottoman empire by the Armenians. " At the same  time, the Turkish government forgot that the documentary evidence of  the Armenian Genocide is presented in the Genocide Museum Institute  in Tsitsernakaberd, and anyone, including the Turks, can come and  familiarize themselves with this documentation.

Turkey also complained that Armenia refused to set up a joint  independent commission to investigate the events of that period.   "Ankara addressed Yerevan in 2005 on the opening of the archives of  1915 and the creation of an independent commission. If the events of  1915 were really an Armenian genocide, Yerevan would be ready to open  these archives," the Turkish government assured, justify the policy  of denial pursued by Ankara for decades.

At the same time, the Turkish government went further and assured  that all the claims of the Armenians regarding the events of 1915 do  not have a legal basis. "In the archives of Turkey, there are  thousands of facts about how Armenian gangs, with the support of  external forces, killed civilians in the provinces of Agra, Kars,  Erzrum, Van, as well as Turkish government officials during the  Ottoman Empire," the Turkish government said, forgetting to mention  as millions of Armenians, Assyrians and Pontic Greeks were brutally  murdered or deported from their original places of residence.

For more convincing, the Turkish executive body stressed that, unlike  Turkey, they say that there is still hostility and hatred towards the  Turks in Armenia.

"While not a single Turk lives in Armenia, Armenians live in Turkey  peacefully and without any problems.  Multinationality is one of the  main assets of Turkey," the Turkish government said, concluding by  saying that all actions Armenian lobby against Turkey, in the first  place, harm the interests of Armenians, who live in "poverty" in  Armenia itself.

"The Armenian authorities, instead of thinking about the benefits of  the genocide industry, should think about the future of their people.   If the Armenian lobby believes that by influencing the parliaments of  Western countries, it can somehow put pressure on Ankara, then it is  greatly mistaken. Yerevan simply will not be able to normalize  relations with Ankara, making claims of genocide, "concluded the  Turkish government.

Russia, Armenia to increase intensity of joint military drills – Southern Military District HQ

MOSCOW. April 19
