168: Acting PM Pashinyan to meet with parents of Karen Ghazaryan who is in Azerbaijani captivity

Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on November 28 will meet with the parents of Karen Ghazaryan who is currently in the Azerbaijani captivity.

“Today I will meet with the parents of Karen Ghazaryan in the municipality. My spouse has visited them two times. Azerbaijan has made a semi-official offer to exchange three Azerbaijani citizens in Artsakh with the three Armenians who are in Azerbaijan. But two of these Azerbaijani citizens are imprisoned in Artsakh, the one for 20 years and the other to life imprisonment because they have killed citizens of Artsakh. And now the question is the following: whether the relatives of those killed will agree that Artsakh returns the murderers of their kids to Azerbaijan. It’s clear that Azerbaijan will declare new Ramil Safarovs from these murderers. Do we want to bear the political and practical consequences of this? A man accidentally crossed the border from Turkey, and we sent him back to his country without any preconditions. It would be logical if they returned Karen in the same way. We dealt and are dealing with the issue of Karen also in accordance with the agreement reached in Dushanbe. It’s a simple, humanitarian issue, and we will make all efforts to solve this issue”, Pashinyan said during the election campaign of My Step alliance in Noyemberyan town.

Pashinyan said there is a version that Karen has been kidnapped from his own home.

“People are concerned and worried about the level of defense at the border. There is a suspicion that Karen was kidnapped from his own home, but there are no proofs yet. I will definitely discuss this issue with the representatives of our Armed Forces. We will take actions if necessary”, he said.

Pashinyan attacked Karabakh officials with criticism, demanding "not to stick their nose" in politics

Yerevan November 27

Marianna Mkrtchyan. Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attacked Karabakh officials, who sharply responded to the statement by member of Pashinyan's "My Step" election bloc Sasun Mikayelyan, that the victory of the people in the revolution is more important than the Artsakh liberation war.

The statements voiced from Stepanakert angered Pashinyan, who expressed surprise at such a reaction to Mikayelyan's statement. "Undoubtedly, Mikayelyan himself understood that he made a not very correct comparison, and he himself corrected his statement, saying that he means the fact that the April revolution plays an important role in terms of fixing the victory in the Artsakh liberation war, and not vice versa. And I do not understand the inspiration of some, especially after this adjustment. Reflecting on the current situation, I suddenly remembered a couple of my meetings, where I said that I would not allow making money illegally on boots, clothes and food of the soldiers, to ensure my own well-being. I am even more surprised by the fact that those who have been witnessing how to rob the army over the years are reacting to this formulation," Pashinyan complained.

He continued, adding that he was surprised that those who had "sewn up their mouths for many years, watched the army being plundered, and some even took part in the process, responded to Mikayelyan's statements. "And now they suddenly decided to earn political points on this unfortunate formulation, I will not allow that!!! Those who stole bread from the soldiers will be brought to justice in turn, they have no forgiveness. These few people who ask and beg to stop criminal cases against them, and we tell them that they need to return what was stolen from the servicemen; it seems to them that this is a reason for encouragement. Do not dare to be inspired, sit in your seats and wait for what we are doing to become a reality and do not force us talk about these topics more openly. Do not hope for forgiveness, you are responsible for your every robbery. Do not think that you can take dividends on one sentence and think that people are naive or subjecting your compatriots to self-justice, become a defender of the inspectors. At the same time, he urged not to perceive the policy pursued by them as a weakness. Pashinyan promised to "get everyone", and assured that he would not allow manipulating the Armenian people. "Take care of your service and do not dare to stick your nose in politics. I will apologize for this erroneous wording a thousand times, but I will not allow anyone to earn political dividends. These underground Republican mafia-style games will not work, calm down!", He concluded.

To note this statement caused a negative reaction in Stepanakert. The Secretary of the NKR National Security Council, the hero of Artsakh, Vitaly Balasanyan called to come to his senses. "The national liberation struggle, founded in 1988, is a victory for our people living in Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora. NKR is the achievement and pride of all Armenians. It is surprising and even arouses anger that these days, during the election campaign to the RA National Assembly this fact is speculated and understated in some party interests. I would like to remind Sasun Mikayelyan, who went through the horrors of the Artsakh war, that the revolution that occurred in Armenia in the last period cannot be considered a more serious victory than the Artsakh liberation war and even more the foundation of the second Armenian Republic. Such statements at least cast doubt on the participation of such persons in state- building. It is regrettable that such statements are made in the presence of the Supreme Commander-in- Chief of Armenia. ! ".

A statement was made by the NKR Ministry of Defense Spokesman Senor Asratyan, who noted that the statement of a person is ambiguously perceived when he has nothing to speak, but the desire to speak is great. "The proof is a statement made by Sasun Mikaelyan, or rather an attempt to compare or belittle national phenomena. P.S. Try to abandon this habit, especially when it comes to the Artsakh war of liberation, built on the blood of thousands of heroes" Asratyan wrote. And Artsakh President's Advisor Arshavir Gharamyan called for deleting the name of Sasun Mikayelyan from the heroes of the Artsakh war. To note, Sasun Mikayelyan, a member of the Armenian parliament, a member of the My Step bloc led by Nikol Pashinyan, believes that the victory of the people in the revolution is more important than the Artsakh war of liberation. "We won the Artsakh war. I'm not afraid to say that this victory that you, the people, won in our country is more important than the Artsakh liberation war," Mikayelyan said during the election campaign with the participation of premiere of Armenia in the city of Talin.

Pashinyan: If a solution is proposed for Karabakh, which my opinion will be acceptable, I will discuss this proposal with the people

Yerevan November 27

. ArmInfo, Naira Badalyan. The issue of Nagorno-Karabakh will be solved as the people want. About this November 27th at Stepanavan, in response to the statement of the candidate from RPA David Shahnazaryan, declared the acting president. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"I am the first leader of Armenia, who said the following: not a single leader of Armenia, not a single government can solve the Karabakh issue, because only the people can solve this issue. If such a solution is proposed, which, in my opinion, will be acceptable, I will discuss it proposal with the people, "said Pashinyan. In addition, as Pashinyan pointed out, only the leadership of Artsakh can present a position on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "I and other leaders of Armenia can only negotiate on behalf of Armenia. I invited the leadership of Artsakh, the entire military personnel, representatives of the political elite, outlining in detail all the existing circumstances of the negotiation process. The more people have information about the Karabakh issue, the better there can be no secrets for the people – even, given the nuances associated with the armed forces and the diplomatic corps.

There were no such meetings before, "the leader of the My Step bloc said. Touching upon the topic of possible concessions, Nikol Pashinyan said: "I have publicly said several times that it is unacceptable when international representatives come and ask: is Armenia ready to make concessions? I said that Armenia will answer this question when the international community asks the same question Azerbaijan, "said Pashinyan. He also said that his main goal is to make the country's armed forces the most efficient in the region. "In addition, I am the first leader of Armenia, who does not want to involve the army in politics. I gave a clear indication to the Minister of Defense that the servicemen should act at their own discretion during the vote," Pashinyan assured. It should be noted that today during the press conference, the former head of the RA National Security Ministry, the ex-member of the board of the Armenian National Movement opposition party, and now the deputy candidate of the ex-ruling Republican Party (RPA), David Shahnazaryan said that the current government Armenia represents a greater threat to Artsakh than Azerbaijan with all its armed forces. According to Shakhnazaryan, the statement of Sasun Mikaelyan, a member of the election block "My Step" that the victory of the people in the revolution is more important than the Artsakh liberation war, is part of Nikol Pashinyan's political program according to the formula "Power in exchange for Artsakh". Thus, according to him, through the mouth of Sasun Mikaelyan, what was the political goal of the current government was expressed. "I will not stop repeating that the so-called revolution has become an absolute evil for two Armenian states," he stressed. -v–

Azerbaijani press: Armenian soldiers in occupied Karabakh unhappy with fundraising for Hayastan Fund

29 November 2018 19:46 (UTC+04:00)

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 29

By Elchin Mehdiyev – Trend:

Armenian soldiers in Azerbaijan’s occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region are unhappy that they are forced to transfer money to the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, political analyst Ehtiram Ashirli told Trend Nov. 29.

He said that an annual telethon of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund was held in Los Angeles Nov. 22.

“This time during the fundraising campaign conducted under the slogan 'Create Together', the amount of funds raised was $11,109,633,” he said. “With the help of these funds, illegal activity is carried out in the occupied Karabakh. However, according to information, soldiers and officers of military units of the Armenian army illegally deployed in Karabakh are forced to transfer money to this fund. Officers are required to transfer 5,000 drams to the fund’s account, ensigns have to transfer 3,000 drams, contract soldiers have to transfer 1,000 drams, and the military personnel has to pay 100 drams. According to the information, the servicemen who don’t observe this instruction encounter problems.”

He noted that the Armenian Ministry of Defense annually transfers a certain amount to the fund’s account, but then these funds are collected from military personnel, and this causes discontent among them every year.

“The money from the servicemen was collected only in military units deployed in Karabakh,” the analyst said. “A spokesman for the Armenian Defense Ministry, calling this a terrible thing, added that he doesn’t have such information and declined to give additional information.”

The funds raised during the telethons amounted to $12,505,456 in 2017, $15,428,777 in 2016, $10,378,465 in 2015 and $12,399,550 in 2014.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.

Azerbaijani press: Analyst: Armenians often stand at head of many criminal cash withdrawal groups in Russia

29 November 2018 20:51 (UTC+04:00)

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 29

By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:

The investigation of German journalists about the links of the Armenian mafia in Europe with the Armenian Foreign Ministry shouldn’t be surprising, because this is true, Yevgeny Mikhailov, a famous Russian TV anchor and political analyst, told Trend.

He was commenting on the information published Nov. 28 on the website “Crime Russia”, based on the investigation carried out by Der Spiegel and MDR TV Channel in this regard.

Results of a journalistic investigation carried out by Der Spiegel and MDR TV Channel implying that high-ranked Armenian diplomats ‘patronize’ ‘Armenian mafia’ operating in Germany under the leadership of thieves-in-law compromised the reputation of the local Armenian diaspora, sparked lawsuits, and caused diplomatic tensions between the two countries, according to the website.

“In early November, Der Spiegel weekly newspaper and the Thuringian branch of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk TV Company have partially published results of their joint journalistic investigation based on the 19-page report produced by the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt, BKA), thus, announcing the forthcoming premiere of a documentary entitled “Godfathers in Germany — Armenian Mafia and thieves-in-law” (Paten in Deutschland — die armenische Mafia und die Diebe im Gesetz),” the website reported.

“According to the journalists, a well-conspired and sophisticated ‘Armenian mafia’ network infiltrates a number of big German cities running various illegal businesses, including credit frauds, counterfeiting of money, laundering of criminal proceeds, racketeering, drug trafficking, and prostitution,” the report said.

The publication drew attention to the fact that the Armenian Foreign Ministry often fell into extremely ambiguous situations from the time of Serzh Sargsyan’s rule, Mikhailov said.

He noted that cases of interaction between Serzh Sargsyan and thieves in law have long been known, and it is no secret that many of the authorities were hiding in Armenia after the persecution began in Russia.

“Money laundering, drugs, smuggling, prostitution are only a small part of the Armenian mafia’s activities around the world,” Mikhailov said. “The fact that the German special services started the investigation shows that they are interacting with Russian colleagues who have already gained successful experience in combating criminal ethnic groups. In Russia, Armenians also often stand at the head of many criminal groups that withdraw cash money and are engaged in other criminal activities.”
