The Armenian church marks the Feast of the Holy Translators

The Armenian Apostolic Church marks to day the Feast of the Holy Translators. For the Armenian people the Feast of the Holy Translators is one of the most favorite and beloved national-ecclesiastical feasts. As Qahana.am reports, nearly two hundred disciples of St. Mesrob Mashtots and St. Sahak are known by the general group name “Holy Translators”. The disciples of the above mentioned group of Holy Translators are known as “Junior Translators”.

Celebrating this feast, the Armenian Apostolic Church pays tribute of respect to the bright memory of St. Mesrob Mashtots, Yeghishe, Moses of Khoronk, philosoppher Davit Anhaght, whose sacred work and mission later has been continued on by St. Gregory of Narek and St. Nerses the Gracious. The word “Translator” means "Interpreter”. Comprehending and precisely understanding the demands of that period, the Holy Translators initiated the sacred work of creating the Armenian alphabet and literature. By the strength of their faith they dispersed the darkness and warmed the human souls. Thanks to the Holy Translators the Holy Bible was translated into Armenian and the Armenian people obtained the possibility to read the Holy Book in the native language.

By means of their activity the Holy Translators contributed to the spiritual-cultural awakening of Armenia. After the translation of the Holy Bible, many books of Church Father were translated into Armenian, and thanks to this fact many translations, the original copies of which haven’t been preserved, presently exist only in the translated variant and thus the translations have obtained the value of the original.

Ethnic Armenians release details about Turkish military invasion in Syria

13:27,

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 12, ARMENPRESS. Ethnic Armenians who moved from Syria’s Tell Abyad to Aleppo due to the Turkish military invasion, told about the situation in that region following the military operations.

Sargis Nazarian and Vanes Kecherian told Aleppo’s Gandzasar daily that they were in Tell Abyad for working purposes.

“Before the start of the war our work was very good. We were working and enjoying our job. When the Turkish attack started days before, a shot was fired towards Tell Abyad. The Turkish armed forces started opening shots towards Tell Abyad and nearby villages. Staying there was a matter of life and death. We could not stay there. We left everything there and moved on. At that time we spent a terrible night. The villages in Syria’s north-east near the Turkish border were hit by rockets”, Vanes Kecherian said.

Sargis Nazarian in turn stated that they have received a warm welcome in Aleppo.

“Now the situation is unclear, we are waiting”, Nazarian said.

On October 9 Turkish forces launched an offensive in Syria’s north-east.

The Armenian foreign ministry released a statement noting that Armenia condemns the military invasion by Turkey in north-east Syria, which would lead to deterioration of regional security, losses among civilians, mass displacement and eventually to a new humanitarian crisis.

Dems Aiding Iran’s Backdoor to EU Trade

American Thinker
Oct 12 2019
By Jesse Bogner

For the average observer, any mention of U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.), Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), and Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) brings to mind those lawmakers’ calls for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

The role is a familiar one for House Intelligence Committee chair Schiff, the de facto Congressional spokesman for the Mueller Report and now for the inquiry into the Ukraine scandal. Yet these three Democratic legislators are lesser known for their entanglement in another conundrum — enabling Iran to skirt U.S. sanctions and infiltrate European markets.

It begins with seemingly distinct, yet in actuality highly interconnected events which took place on a parallel track from Oct. 1-2. On those dates, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), a Russia-led trade alliance of five ex-Soviet republics which was formed with the goal of countering the European Union, held its annual conference in Armenia’s capital of Yerevan.

This year’s summit served as a precursor to Iran’s official membership in the EAEU beginning on Oct. 27, a development which will mean that Iranian goods can be exported to the EAEU states (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia) with virtually no tariffs. The particularly concerning element for the West in this equation is Armenia, the only EAEU member possessing a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) with the EU. In essence, Tehran’s pending EAEU membership carries the potential to bring Iranian commerce directly to Europe — with the Iran-Armenia border as the primary conduit.

It should come as no surprise that Armenia, which is rapidly expanding its booming trade with the Iranians and in April reached a customs cooperation deal with the Islamic Republic, stands poised to function as the chief channel for expanding Iran’s business footprint in Europe. The Trump administration is already well familiar with Armenia’s history as a sanctions-buster, as the U.S. sanctioned two Armenian companies in August due to their business ties with Iran. Tehran has also used Armenian banks as a mechanism for circumventing international financial sanctions. Further, at the EAEU conference, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashiyan stated outright his intent to deepen Armenia-Iran ties “in spite of U.S. sanctions.”

The second piece of the puzzle is Pallone’s Oct. 1-2 visit to Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian-occupied territory that is affirmed in four U.N. resolutions as part of Azerbaijan. Days before the New Jersey lawmaker’s trip, Pallone, Speier, and Schiff signed a Sept. 27 letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Defense Mark Esper calling for “the immediate halt of military aid to Azerbaijan,” citing their concerns over how “the supplies, training, and manpower supported by the dramatic amount of U.S. funding [for Azerbaijan] will be used to further perpetuate aggression against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.”

(via Wikipedia)

Yet the U.S. funding which the lawmakers are targeting — $58.6 million for Azerbaijan in fiscal year 2018 and $42.9 million in fiscal year 2019 — falls under the Section 333 Building Partner Capacity program and pertains to maritime security as well as border capabilities, including the curbing of Iranian aggression at the Islamic Republic’s border with Azerbaijan. In fact, the American security assistance in question has no implications for Azerbaijani military capabilities vis-à-vis Nagorno-Karabakh. By seeking to torpedo this funding, all that the three pro-Armenian House Democrats are actually accomplishing is paving a path towards bolstering Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.

The timing is unmistakable. During the very same early-October days on which Armenia hosts a gathering that celebrates Iran’s forthcoming economic empowerment through EAEU membership, Pallone visits Armenian-occupied territory to tout the same pro-Iranian policy recommendations expressed in his letter to Pompeo and Esper.

“I don’t think we should be giving any military assistance to Azerbaijan, because every indication is that they would use it — the likelihood is that they would use it against Armenia,” Pallone said in Nagorno-Karabakh.

It’s richly ironic that Pallone, who purports to be a leading voice against foreign influence over American affairs, lands in Nagorno-Karabakh on the Armenian government’s own military helicopter to urge the end of security assistance to a U.S. ally. If that’s not foreign influence, what really is?

The same could be said of Speier and Schiff, the self-anointed crusaders for the truth on alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election who simultaneously exacerbate Russia’s well-documented influence over Armenia. How can they ignore, for instance, that Armenia’s borders and airspace are patrolled by Russian troops and aircraft?

Let’s hope that unlike the pro-Armenian contingent in Congress, the Trump administration operates from a reality-based perspective when assessing America’s strategic interests — starting with a nuanced understanding of how Armenia empowers Iran.

Turkey’s century-long complexes

Panorama, Armenia
Oct 12 2019

Author Anahit Voskanyan

It is difficult to understand Turkey and the Turks. Years after years and centuries after centuries the complex of being alien to where they live has not left them. To an extend that they remained wild even after creating an empire. So wild that they eliminated whole nations. Perhaps, they were feared for the fact of them being incomers would be reminded to them over and over again. To an extent that being devastators they were reluctant to give people their freedom whose territories they had conquered.

What kind of a blood Turks have as they never get tired of killing?  Not only are they ashamed of their genocidal vileness but from time to time initiate death revelries.

Who is Turkey with all its gone and hidden ambitions or envy to join Europe? Who are passing through the country, what type of armament and for whom are transferred through Turkey? No civilized logic may ever explain.

“109 terrorists have been killed since the launch of the military operation in Syria,” Erdogan has recently stated.

No matter how pragmatic one is the war is incompatible with civilization, the unawareness of children, the deaths, the hours filled with horrors for elderly, women as all of them may never perceive any ‘military’ justification for a war. No matter how hard the great powers explain the usage and production of weapons under the veil of democratic, liberal, anti-terrorist slogans, the war still remains unperceivable.

Turkey has launched a wedding of killings in front of the whole world yet again.

Since yesterday, all have been following the developments in Syria where the Kurds and Christians are again the target. Some question why the Kurds helped the Turks during the Genocide. Yet those thoughts appear when one does not watch real war scenes, helpless fathers taking their kids in arms,  desperate grandfathers unable to protect their families, little girls dreaming of weapons …
This might seem a curse for Turks. Otherwise, how can one explain the country always heads to and gets stuck in the most hideous gambles.

Yes, the only explanation may exist is that is a curse!
